Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Alternate Cover Revealed

Wizards of the Coast has revealed the alternate cover to Eberron: Forge of the Artificer. The new cover, seen below, was first seen on ICv2. The cover shows an Artificer creating a metal construct, which may or may not be a Warforged. We'll note that, generally speaking, the average Artificer doesn't have the capabilities to create a sentient Warforged, as they were created by House Cannith via special Creation Forges. Unless there's a radical change to Eberron lore, it's more likely that this construct is a less sophisticated cration of some kind. The same Artificer can also be found on the cover of the standard Eberron: Forge of the Artificer.

This cover is exclusive to hobby stores. Eberron: Forge of the Artificer will go on sale on August 19, with a retail price of $29.99.

Believe it or not, I feel
You might be right, but I cant put my finger on why it looks like scifi.

The golem with the aura and light emanating from eyes and mouth, could easily be magic. But yeah, this could be an Isaac Asimov book.
Believe it, I feel like it is the "o" in Eberron. It's octagonal shape with a filled center and diagonal cut would be right at home on a sci-fi wargame cover. It gives a sort of energy weapon muzzle vibe. The whole set piece is also a Frankenstein homage, which is sci-fi.

Just to clarify, I am not bashing the cover, it looks awesome. I am just dissecting why this piece of art gives me the impression it does, which is wholly subjective.

I don’t like either of the covers for this book (same as with Dragon Delves). Sigh …

I guess I’ll just get the DDB version and skip the physical one. If I get it at all.

<sigh> WotC do you have any new ideas? Like, anything? I dread a new "edition" because it'll be the same old stuff. More versions of the Draconomicon, a giants adventure, a Ravenloft rehash, lather rinse repeat.

Even the new starter set is Keep on the Borderlands. We have multiple versions of it. Please, just move on.

Counterpoint: 80% of their audience started with 5e and deserves their own versions of these things in the rule set they jumped into the game with.

Still better than that very stupid cover featuring a gigantic head.
