Meet the WOIN Bestiary's Fearsome Fire Dragon!

Here's a quick look at one of the dragons from the book--the fearsome fire dragon!
Coming very soon is the official hardcover bestiary for the What's OLD is NEW roleplaying game system. This bestiary contains hundreds of monsters and NPCs from all three of WOIN's main genres--fantasy, modern action, and sci-fi--ready to use in your games. Here's a quick look at one of the dragons from the book--the fearsome fire dragon!

And for those new to What's OLD is NEW, never fear--you can pick up the gorgeous starter box set at the same time! WOIN is a toolkit-focused tabletop RPG designed to emulate three different genres--or, indeed, mix and mash them. Play in a straight fantasy game, or put that wizard on a starship. It's up to you!

Probably a simplistic question but a question on combat. The 52 in its melee defenses…does that mean a character has to roll above that to injure it? I see the free preview in drive thru and need to check it out a bit more but the question popped to mind before I go to the drive thru site. Thanks in advance if someone answers.

Beautiful art on the dragon, feels like something I’d see in an old MERP book which is a good thing in my eye!

To hit it, yep. A dragon is pretty much at the top of the food chain, so that’s about the highest numbers you’re likely to see in the game. Most have defences in the 10-20+ range. Then SOAK is damage reduction.

That be a Claudio Pozas!

I'd like to know if one can capitalize on the low Luck score. Otherwise, my merry band will be avoiding such creatures.
All creatures have a weak point that players may be able to figure out and capitalise on. It may be one (or two) low defence(s), or a vulnerability, or something a called shot can do, but canny players (or clever characters) can often figure out a way to beat a seemingly tough opponent.

Is OLD the fantasy heroic v 1.3 the most current I can buy at drive thru? Going to pick it up but wanted to make sure and is there anything else considered core to running an OLD fantasy campaign?

I am super delighted to see this example of a creature from the upcoming Bestiary as it is new and does not already appear in the Monsters and Foes section of OLD 1.3. I was worried this collection would be solely retreads from the three core rulebooks, very happy to see it is not. Looking forward to backing this on Kickstarter!
