For better coverage, maybe Zoe is a Rogue, Mira is a Fighter, and Rumi is a Paladin, and they all have maxed out Charisma/Performance skills and there's a mechanic where if they all take a Bonus action on their turn to sing they can do something like a Channel Divinity / Turn Undead (but more powerful since there's three actions going into it), but they each start play with their Flaws that mean they have Disadvantage on Performance checks and so they need to overcome their Flaws by working as a group so they can sing better together as a team and see the Honmoon is like a magic item they're constructing together and yes I have an eight year old daughter why do you ask?

But see what I mean? There's good fun in punting your favorite piece of media through a D&D shaped window and seeing how the glass shatters. Folks do it informally all the time. D&D's ORIGINS lie in part in LotR + Wargame.

Cautious, because I'd hate for D&D to become JUST that, and I'm sure it's something that can wear thin with time (I've not been a huge fan of the Acquisitions Inc or Rick & Morty stuff, for instance, and I'd classify the Stranger Things stuff as "fine"), but it's hard to resist the appeal of some of these ideas.

I dipped my toe back into Magic: The Gathering late last year when the new core set dropped. I really loved it. I even dug into Blumeburrow, which was way more awesome than I thought it would be. I gotta admit though, the release schedule is head spinning fast. Some of these sets are just like "what are they thinking? Wacky Race?". I feel like I can't keep up. Commander seems to be the only format supported, I just like standard Magic. Last time I really got into Magic was the 90s, and little bit around 2013/14. Saying all that to say, I dont really want D&D to go Univers Beyond.

Were the D&D expansions Universes Beyond?
They were, but they were generally better Accepted because it’s still WotC IP. In general people seem more ok with UB sets that are other fantasy IPs. I don’t really like any of them, but I tolerate D&D and LotR.
I liked those, although I'm a D&D fan and MtG dabbler, so I just liked the D&D in my Magic
Yeah, that’s why Universes Beyond is doing so well, despite dedicated Magic players hating it. People who aren’t big Magic fans but are big fans of the crossover IP buy the cards cause why not.

D&D isn't like MtG. We control what we use at our own table, which is why we can choose to mix and match with 5e products from other publishers. WotC can't cram Spongebob into your game.

I don't buy everything WotC makes anyway, so this won't change much for me.

I think D&D Universes Beyond will be a lot more palatable because there won't be any 800$ booster box scalping, which makes the slop a lot more palatable, even if it were to end up being slop.

I found the Rick & Morty collab funny (bad, but at least interesting to read). It definitely can work if they're not too serious about it.

Elevator Pitch

Seinfeld D&D ("What's the deal with Dungeons and Dragons?"), the players play fantasy versions in fantasy new york of Jerry, Kramer, Elaine, Costanza to take down the evil wizard Newman who uses the New York Yankees Stadium (1:1 floor plans) as his fortress/dungeon
