For better coverage, maybe Zoe is a Rogue, Mira is a Fighter, and Rumi is a Paladin, and they all have maxed out Charisma/Performance skills and there's a mechanic where if they all take a Bonus action on their turn to sing they can do something like a Channel Divinity / Turn Undead (but more powerful since there's three actions going into it), but they each start play with their Flaws that mean they have Disadvantage on Performance checks and so they need to overcome their Flaws by working as a group so they can sing better together as a team and see the Honmoon is like a magic item they're constructing together and yes I have an eight year old daughter why do you ask?

But see what I mean? There's good fun in punting your favorite piece of media through a D&D shaped window and seeing how the glass shatters. Folks do it informally all the time. D&D's ORIGINS lie in part in LotR + Wargame.

Cautious, because I'd hate for D&D to become JUST that, and I'm sure it's something that can wear thin with time (I've not been a huge fan of the Acquisitions Inc or Rick & Morty stuff, for instance, and I'd classify the Stranger Things stuff as "fine"), but it's hard to resist the appeal of some of these ideas.
 

I dipped my toe back into Magic: The Gathering late last year when the new core set dropped. I really loved it. I even dug into Blumeburrow, which was way more awesome than I thought it would be. I gotta admit though, the release schedule is head spinning fast. Some of these sets are just like "what are they thinking? Wacky Race?". I feel like I can't keep up. Commander seems to be the only format supported, I just like standard Magic. Last time I really got into Magic was the 90s, and little bit around 2013/14. Saying all that to say, I dont really want D&D to go Univers Beyond.
