Why there isn't a BG3 module, I will never know.

Yeah i dont think it would be to hard to do.

It woukd be coming out around about now as well. My guess would be they were doing 5.5 and would have to finish that first.

Only thought like Zardnaar mentioned would be to decrease the amount of equipment loot goblins could get.

BG3 vendors are the big problem not Goblin loot.

I don't think.there is any indication it was ever anywhere on their radar. The oy reason we are seeing the BG3 characters in the FR books "DLC" is WotC was completely caught off guard by the game's success.

Yeah, but the latter problem is solved by the usual 5e assumption that looted gear is generally garbage that isn't better than what you've got, and no one wants to buy it.

OTOH, I'd still use the Vendors, if it were me, with a small number of hand-picked items sold for coin.

My question for you is: What do you do with the iconic NPCs? Make your Players play PreGens? Have them around, but not necessarily part of the party? How about "Camp"?

Speaking of which - I have been able to figure out where most of the campsites are, relative to the rest of the areas. They all exist, as far as I can tell, just slightly off-map or around corners from other locations.

I wouldn't try to recreate BG3 ttrpg.

I would add elements of it. Eg explosives. Terrain modifiers like elevation, Gith etc.

Latest campaign i handed out several BG3 weapons starting around lvl 4/5.

If you literally recreate the game or close enough use a BG3 wiki and map it out. Campaign doesn't matter, add Withers if you want etc. NPCs take care of themselves.

I dont think a ttrpg conversion would capture it though. I would do BG4 picking up end of act 3/party. Pick an ending.

Wife's currently doing impossible mode. 50% hp, 3 extra actions, 3 extra bonus actions.

Pregens. Everyone picks one have a discussion on how much leeway you have on different classes. Eg Laezels a fighter, Karlachs a berzerker, Shadowhearts a trickery cleric (light if redeemed) etc.

We had that discussion lol. Level, Karlach, Asterion got picked immediately. Shadowheart as Shar loyal was the odd pick out.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a tie in product ever be a direct replica of a product. A few reasons…

Firstly it’s very rare that mediums translate like that.

Secondly it’s someone else’s story. As a writer you would just be translating someone else’s idea. Which I imagine is less satisfying.

Thirdly fans of the game already know the story, what happens and how it ends. That makes for playing an unsatisfying TTRPG. Particularly in TTRPG which are usually linear.

Lastly, they’re too long for a TTRPG product. One full sized book might just cover act 1. So WOTC would be committing several books to the endeavor. A big gamble.

Unlike Zard I am going to attempt a pretty faithful rendition of the game because I think the circumstances here are pretty unique. I’m not a writer and have no problem taking someone else’s ideas for a home game. My group by some freak coincidence are about the only group of 4 fantasy fans that haven’t played BG1, 2 or 3. While I as DM are big fans of all 3. I also thing the structure and encounter design of BG3 are uniquely suited to porting over - unlike Kingmaker which needs a lot of adaption (mainly due to the repetitive combats in KM)

I definitely wouldn’t do pregen. I think that a very unsatisfying way to run a full campaign for experienced players. To constraining.

I would like at the PC character choices - if the schtick of an origin PC could directly map to their design intent - then I would offer it directly. However as this is unlikely I would keep that origin character as an NPC and give the party chance to interact with them and their quests as they see fit?

So if a player wanted to be a barbarian. I would give them the option of playing a flaming tiefling barbarian. If a mage I might give them the option to contain a netherese blast orb. But if they weren’t sold I would just have them meet these characters on the road.

Would you have the PCs set up a camp? I quite like the idea of a semi mobile group joining them. A bit like a wandering bastion. Could be a good way of recreating that with the Companion NPC idea. They’re effectively henchmen.
