I skimmed the video. It doesn't seem to have much to offer in the way of entertainment. It's more of a tech demo that says "this is how well AI can do long form entertainment". The answer is not well, but better than it used to. Not long ago it couldn't do hands; now it can keep characters mostly consistent across a 35 minute show.

Is it? I didn't get the impression this was an entirely AI generated show. I don't even know how much of it is technically generative AI.

From the article, it sounds like this is a show designed by humans, edited by humans, and otherwise made by humans. It's just using AI players.

From that POV it shares a lot of design with Micromouse competitions, which have used machine learning and AI for years (arguably, decades, depending on your definitions). And I've watched plenty of those before.

Edit: I just watched a chunk of the episode (rather than just the article), and I was wrong. I thought the AI would be playing a game, and we'd get to see how it played out. This just looks like a lot of generative AI cut scenes edited together. I found it to actually seem stupider than regular reality TV. And that's a low bar. Count me out. But let me know when we have a version of BattleBots where there are no human operatiors, just AI powered robots.
