I also look forward to Kelsey writing a mega-dungeon. (Take my money, please!)
She's been talking about that for two years now -- I think she even talked about it when she announced the Western Reaches -- so I'd bet that's what comes next from Arcane Library, especially since it's a lot less ambitious than this current Kickstarter which, in an ideal world, would fit into a new lifestyle with a baby.

Same!

She mentioned there will be Bastion like rules, and I believe something else. After this, I am really going to be challenged as to what else I could really need for SD at all beyond a huge dungeon.

As a general rule, I prefer to go with advantage rather than counting bonuses. I think this might be the only time in Shadowdark where we get a numerical bonus to a non-combat roll. So I think switching it to advantage is fine.

I am looking forward to using the delver and the expanded equipment list in a megadungeon game some time.
Ill actually take granularity in a game like SD. Advantage and disadvantage have their place but I think are too effective for this use.

I would be happy to see her just settle into a cycle of putting out dungeons and bestiaries. Today's email makes it sound like she thinks she'll return to the Cursed Scroll format in the future, too.

Huh. Do you think SD doesn't need other stuff, or that Dionne isn't the right one to do it? Or something else?
I honestly don't think it "needed" anything after the core book.

She's a great adventure writer -- I've been using her 5E stuff for years -- and her weird non-conversion monsters in the book are the best stuff in there. So I'd be happy to see her do more of both of those forever after.

The game has a permissive license so if there's stuff that people feel like the game needs, and which somehow hasn't already been created yet (there's already so much stuff created using Shadowdark), they can create it themselves.

That said, the overall quality of Shadowdark is so high, if Kelsey says she wants to make a Smurf-inspired setting for it, or whatever, she'll have my attention.

The Delver gets the chance to add ADV on top of the counting bonus. This is the Indiana Jones whip rule.

Yeah, that's a fair point. Advantage on non-weapon gear would have a high probability of colliding with the Trailblazer ability.

And whip is pure genius.

Oh, and look what is on page 57 of the new Cursed Scroll:

(Unfortunately not actually on the list of Delver gear...)
