Trailer Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Season 1) trailer

You would be surprised. Franchise ended, people grew up, had new interests and didn't follow author on social media. Specially outside of USA. Controversies are mostly on english speaking side of social media, and mostly twitter/x or reddit or specialized forums, it didn't really bleed in on local facebook groups or news.
but they will now because people won't not bring it up when they start saying they're watching it/enjoying it.

What people? I'm talking about international casual fans and casual fans in general. Regular people, mostly older now, for whom HP is just part of childhood nostalgia. They have bigger things to care than what some author of kids books said on social media. Things like rising prices of everything for example. Like i said in one of the previous post, i'm active on biggest forum in my country and we have topic about new HP show. So far, 0 mentions of controversies by JK Rowling, only discussion about show and HP in general and how much that franchise meant to them when they were kids/teens. Sure, that forum also skews mostly 35+.

I think everyone pretty much knows by 2026.
I think a lot of people who are woke enough to care (or know the 1% of the population who are trans) are aware of the issues, and it’s toxic enough that most of them won’t watch this. However, that’s probably 10% of the population in the U.K. or US at most. Who knows who the potential 50m viewers are - many will be kids and parents who have HBO, aren’t particularly woke, and need something to watch.

Every time a Harry Potter video is posted on YouTube or Facebook -- not exactly bastions of liberal thought -- it's brought up.

The "no one has heard of a controversy everyone has heard about" discourse around here is crazy.

Yeah, but how many people watch those (especially outside the US, U.K., and Anglosphere in general), and of those how many decide not to care? I have no idea, personally. I do know that while HP books failed to hit top 10s on any bestseller lists last year, the new audiobooks sold well, and that the last major HP film (Secrets of Dumbledore in 2022) made $400m worldwide despite not being very good (46% on Rotten Tomatoes). So sadly, yes, I suspect a lot of people will watch this, and many of them won’t know or care about the author’s opinions or actions.

To be fair, even in the Information Age, with almost all of us being 24/7 within arm’s reach of a computer device of some kind with internet access, it’s still possible to miss out on news about all kinds of stuff, including the political/social opinions of celebrities.

I only found out about Chuck Norris’ opinions on LGBTQ+ and minorities a few years ago, and that Afroman is a bit more comfortable with certain politicians than I’d care for last week.

Why? Because I’m generally not looking to learn about the political/social opinions of celebrities.

That said, Rowling is a bit more high profile, though, especially if you’re tuning into all things HP or watch any of the UK news about LGBTQ+ rights.

I mean, I’m not into HP at all, and I’m pretty familiar with her views and actions. So being completely unaware of them while simultaneously being aware of the HP reboot would be…somewhat improbable.

IF they step outside of that, they will encounter people who can't wait to tell them

I’m frankly amazed they can find that many British actors that weren’t in the films.

Really liked Janet McTeer (McGonnegal) in Kaos, she was deliciously cold as Hera. That was one of the gayest shows I’ve ever watched that wasn’t specifically about the gay community. Really gutted that was Net-nix’ed
