This thread made me realize while I’m Gen X all of my closest friends (including my partner) are in that elder Millenial bracket. I always knew I was immature.

Born in 1968 but that puts me pretty close to being a Boomer. Many of my friends are younger Gen X and older Millennials and I have more in common with them than most Boomers I know.

We used to turn those scrambled channels on in the hopes that a signal would come through. Once in a while the station would allow for a free preview. Good times.

The younger generations don't realize how good they have it with the internet and will never know what it was like when one of your buddies ripped off his dads Playboy mags. Or waiting out front of a 7-Eleven looking for a buyer to get a case of Genesee Pounders, then standing on the railroad tracks in the middle of winter until either the cops came or Conrail came by trying to shoot you with salt guns. Either way you were running. Good times indeed.

Yup, same here... all of my D&D friends are 5-10 years younger than me.

Speaking of which, I have for some reason only just discovered Olivia Rodrigo's music ... and bam! All of a sudden, I am back to being a grungy teenager in the 90s wearing Dr Martens and plaid flannel shirts and listening to Weezer and Pearl Jam and the Pixies. Nostalgia tripping HARD, man. I even remembered that I had a major crush on Shirley Manson from Garbage back in the day.

It's like it's 1998 all over again. I swear the 90s were just the previous decade, right? But also somewhere in that vague pre-COVID time that feels like a million years ago.

I get the same feeling sometimes. Few weeks ago, buddy from university called me, he's organizing reunion of our old uni class group. I asked him why now. When he said, well, it's 15 years since we graduated, it punched me right in the gut.

Another big shocker are kid's birthdays. It feels like it was just couple years ago when i tutored my friends kid in 5-6th grade math and physics. Last week, she turned 18 and those "couple of years" is actually 6 years ago.
