It's a pretty decent campaign setting book.

I was going to do so with a bunch of their fantasy flip mats to round out the half dozen I have from a previous sale of theirs. I thought it was a decent deal and price for decently useful and evocative D&D tabletop combat maps, but the sticker shock of their shipping changed that calculus and led me to cancel my order.

I did a double take as well but had enough in the cart that I still saved a fair amount. The box was rather heavy so given modern shipping rates, probably on par with normal. I did mention that I bought too many..... 13 + the initiative tracker.

Amazon has wrecked me. Every time I buy from an indie publisher (and we'll throw paizo in there, too) I reconsider my cart when I see the shipping. At this point what it has done in practice is make it so that I wait until I have a few things to buy from any given publisher.

Sadly, that shouldn't surprise anyone. It's been years since I bought anything physical from the US that didn't show up at a local store. it's certainly curtailed my crowdfunding.

Does crowdfunding a TTRPG project count as a purchase if the crowdfunding succeeds and yields a physical book/PDF?

I've backed the mutants and masterminds 4e kickstarter and I'm dreading the cost of shipping to get the books down to here in NZ. I was estimating around 80nzd but with everything happening now that number might be a bit higher. They're waiting until the last minute to get the shipping costs.
