As far as we can make out so far, we’re being slammed by AI crawlers scraping the site for its content, so that they can regurgitate it to people without them visiting here, and consequently inflicting what is essentially a DDOS attack. We keep trying to block them but they are cycling IP addresses to get around the blocks.

That would explain why Scribd, which is a goldmine for AI, is also having issues.

Things are better but something is scrambling IPs and usage patterns and web browser etc.

For a while we were having thousands of visits a second from Singapore, lol.

Facebook is apparently also having issues, which matches with AI bots trying to frantically scrape everything all at once.
