D&D 5E Consolidated list of "Finally" thread

Below is a list of PHB answers in the question thread, up to #971. All answers come with links, so you can check them out yourself. I have skipped a few duplicate answers and some that were covered in basic. -- Book -- Pages feel a bit thinner than previous editions, but they are shiny and...

D&D 5E Has the old "ready to cast silence upon spellcasting" trick finally been stopped?

It is still possible to silence someone on their spellcasting, however it won't stop them from casting that first spell. My logic: 1. You ready your silence spell. Spell not cast yet, in theory you haven't even started doing any gesture, no concentration necessary. 2. He / she cast a spell...

    D&D 5E Weak Saving Throws

Our high level playtest party has a Paladin with high Cha. The party pass most saves if DM doesn't modify the DC. Espcially if it is magical, which means everyone adjuscent to him gets advantage on the saving throw. So much for the bounds.

D&D 5E WotC will not allow translation of D&D NEXT.

I found a quote in a blog and posted it in #14: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?356352/&p=6325000#post6325000

D&D 5E WotC will not allow translation of D&D NEXT.

I won't bet Wizards will translate inhouse. It may work for Basic (a big may), but it won't work for books. For example, to print and sell a book in China, you need an approval from the government, through a local publisher in good standing. After that, there are two Chinese alphabets (thanks...

D&D 5E WotC will not allow translation of D&D NEXT.

Seems to be consistent with what we know: Wizards won't considering licensing D&D (RPG rules) until end of 2014. (can't find the above tweet now, but I remember seeing this on twitter myself, before the official post below) If Wizards does not know whether (or how much) Basic D&D would be...

    D&D 4E Another 4e chargen

http://hk.anetcity.com/sheepy/chargen/ Limited to Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 only. Although I implement my online character generator at a much slower rate then Pathguy, I do aim to put as much rule calculation as feasible, and in a more friendly interface. As noted in top of page, as of...

We are playing it 27th May in Chinese over IRC. The players are quite busy this week, thus the delay.

    Core Rulebook Questions

Looks like I'm late... :( Anyway, I'd like to know: :1: How spellbook works :2: How arcane implements interacts with wizard/warlock powers :3: Some martial powers has variable effects depending on weapon used. Any examples? :4: Specific rules on what happens if I pick a heroic class instead...

    Tidbits from PHB Viewing

Me too. Thanks. Especially now that I am working on an online character generator, I need all the specific rules I can get... The info Thalmin and others confirmed in this thread helps a lot in completing unfinished parts with confident, particularly the multi-class system, now that simpler...

What makes a bard a bard?

    1) Yes I think so, if bard remains a leader instead of being mixed role like druid. Just look at cleric. 2) I would agree those before me that "what makes the bard" depends on the player. For me it is its versatility and diversity. You can make it good at a few things, you can focus on one...

    D&D 4E I really don't like the new 4E PHB cover

I love the 3e/3r covers *very* much. They are something I'd love to bring and read outside home. I'd rather have an abstract cover then a pronouncing cover. D&D is about your imagination, after all. Edit: That means, as long as there's a character or a creature on the cover waving swords or...

    Power Sources

No I haven't seen or heard of any mechanical differences. I think such a trap will renders arcane caster useless for the encounter and, if so, goes against 4e philosophy. But, as usual, DM can rule whatever they want.
