A minor rant: the Elf spectrum

Yes, TY OP, I agree 100% The strange thing is, I don't know anyone who will actually admit to liking elves, let alone need several dozen sub-races to fulfill their intense elven addiction.

    Have We Seen Half-Orcs Yet?

I wouldn't shed a single tear for half-orcs or any other "half" race. How drunk does a human have to be to go to bed with an orc?? Theres ugly women, and then there's green-skinned, tusk-mouthed, bodybuilder, Klingon-looking women. Doesn't make sense to me, they should just make orcs a core...

    No More Multiple Attacks?

You are 100% right on this. Unfortunately, it's pretty much inevitable, if 3e has taught us anything. More books = more optimization = more min/maxing. *sigh*

    No More Multiple Attacks?

That is so dramatic! I'm just giving WotC props because they fixed the time consuming buckets-of-dice problem. The more math I have to do, the less hacking I can get done in a single session. It's not like Jawas are killing Gnomes and taking their stuff.

    No More Multiple Attacks?

In the new Star Wars RPG (the prototype for 4e) multiple attacks are removed. It works great and it speeds things up A LOT. PCs can take a feat where they may make 2 attacks at -5/-5, and later, a feat that allows for 3 attacks at -10/-10/-10. It's cool because multiple attacks becomes a...

    D&D 4E The 4e Economy

That actually would be nearly perfect. All the tables and modifiers could fit onto my DM screen, no problem. It also allows players to metagame in a good way, because then they're thinking about finding cities with water access, without much political turmoil, where taxes are low, etc... and...

    D&D 4E The 4e Economy

How does one define "well-known" and "rare" in terms of D&D?

    D&D 4E The 4e Economy

Now that you mention it, I was always kind of fuzzy on how the appraise skill works. The PHB says the DC is usually 15 for gems and art, but it may be higher for more rare valuables. Like what? Can I get an example? When it comes to cash money, I think the players and DM generally need some...

    Daggers are AWESOME!

I'd say whatever the DMG says is standard. I think there are some rules about starting higher level PCs and how much wealth they are expected to have amassed by that point.

    Daggers are AWESOME!

OK, so here's the daggermaster challenge: post a badass PC who fights primarily with daggers. I suppose somewhere between level 7 and 12? Convince me that daggers are actually cool in 3e! ;)

I know they never would, but...

...and yet, you're still doing 1d4 damage. And you've invested at least a +3 bonus into just making it hit concealed things and come back to do it next round. And you've spent several feats to do all this marginally well. You're not making a believer of me. How about you post some min/maxed...

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

"I got lucky in 5th grade. No, not that kind of lucky -- it was 5th grade!" After those first two sentences, I stopped caring. If you want to crack a joke about 10 year olds having sex, it better be funny, otherwise it's just tacky.

I know they never would, but...

Yes!! Thank you!! Why can't I play a rogue who is a bad ass with daggers? Ever see that movie Desperado? Y'know the Mexican assassin who kills only using knives? I want to be THAT guy! (yes, I know this is Machete, but its the same actor and he's got knives, so get over it)

    D&D 4E The 4e Economy

On my top 10 wish list for 4e (one I haven't heard much clamor for) would be for the next DMG to have a good economic system. When the party rolls into town, I want a good, fair, fast, and easy way of determining what is available to buy, how much of it the town has, etc. In my experience, 3e...
