Clarification of weapon listing for a noob!

Yes, but he says moving into someone's space, not someone's threatening area ;). That actually does provoke an attack of opportunity. Like when you want to grapple or overrun them. Ranged penalties are range increment (page 144, under "range"), shooting into melee (page 184) and cover (page...

Clarification of weapon listing for a noob!

HD in spell description Sometimes, indeed, you'll see HD being mentioned in spell descriptions, like in sleep or Planar Ally. Most of the times, this means the number of HD you can affect. It doesn't matter what kind of HD it is (d6, d8, etc.), it just looks at how much it can affect. For...

Clarification of weapon listing for a noob!

Attacking with ze longbow: So let's crunch down Kiramor, the level 4 ranger/2 rogue (total level 6) He has two ranged attacks, namely: Ranged +1 longbow +10 (1d8+1/x3) Ranged +1 longbow +8/+8 (1d8+1/x3) The first part, that is, every number and name after "Ranged" and till (and including) the...

    Silly bears

Hey guys, I was playing Kingmaker, when my players started fighting a bear. The bear started to grapple, and that's when I noticed something seems off. First, I can't find anywhere that a bear could make a full round attack during grapple. There is no rake, so he loses 2 good attacks. Second...

D&D 3E/3.5 PF fans, help me convert (or not convert) from 3.5!

I don't think that will matter much, since the extensive use of utility magic is a sign of inventive players who are very capable of using their resources. My thought is that the increase in power for the players still will decrease the CR of every 3.5 enemy by 1.

D&D 3E/3.5 PF fans, help me convert (or not convert) from 3.5!

My humble opinion: 1. I don't know what your custom made tools consist of, but if it's a quicklist of skill DC's, CR and experience etc. I think you should be fine. Don't know for sure though. 2. Most of the 3.5 classes are significantly weaker then their PF counterparts. This leads to the CR...

    D&D is just a game...right?

Though when emotions run high in a game, it's easy for it to go totally wrong. (looks at football) Dangerous situation, but a very nice story in the end!

    Sneack attack undeads?

It's true that rogues can sneak attack undead creatures. I don't know if it's in the core rulebook, but the bestiary tells which creatures are immune to sneak attacks or precision based damage. As far as I recall, Oozes, Incorporeal, Elementals and Swarm, although the last one does not...

    Dexterous Fighter

Hey there! Yeah I agree that the archetypes for the base classes are great! Way better then adding new classes, and also leaves some extra room for roleplaying. (Now your ninja doesn't have to be of the "ninja" class). On precise strike, yes, it is like sneak attack, and yes it does stack (it...

    Hit Points... Up or Down?

I subtract damage, because I'm conservative like that. Now I can proudly say I'm not stubborn, but prefer to keep training my subtraction-skills.

    Do you like character building?

Choosing feats, skills, traits, plan A's and plan B's; I simply love it. I love it so much, that I take up way too much time tweaking NPC's while writing adventures. Creating monsters is even better, because they need to be challenging and balanced. It's game mechanics, and I love playing with...

D&D is satanic - does anybody think so?

D&D is fine, rock&roll on the other hand... My mother raised "quite the brow" when she heard I was going to play an RPG. It was more because some guys in Brazil decided to take their roleplaying to the next level and ended up killing a player. But after seeing a session, she was fine. Except...

Save or Die: Yea or Nay?

The life of an adventurer is a dangerous one. Although I think SoD spells should be used like tonberries. The fear of it being there is what makes it so terrifying. If the PC's don't act smart enough to neutralize the threat, their fear should be justified. Nobody mentions it here, but I think...

    [APG] Summoner Still Worth Taking?

The one thing I didn't like about the changes presented in the preview was the mutual excluding nature of SLA and your Eidolon. But after seeing some of the spell-list, I'm totally cool with it.

A Discussion in Game Design: The 15 minute work day.

I see your points. I think you are right about more rules would easily lead to more more corner cases. I'm relatively new to tabletop RPG. I started out (as DM) 2 years ago, using 3.5, and switched to pathfinder a bit more then half a year ago. I just played with the core books, so no modules...
