Will this expand upon the heroic monster rules in MMII? I really like what was done there and just created a heroic rogue as a sidekick for one of my players.
I suppose there is a clause in the paragraph on opportunity attacks that states “and unless noted otherwise neither does forced movement.” So the Narrator could agree that the arm drag could certainly fall under that clause.
Perhaps I am missing something, but I interpret the situation a bit differently. If the cleric moves with the spirit guardians spell and that movement envelops new enemies, they do not take damage from “entering” the area of the spirits, but they do take damage from starting their round in said...
Well done Morrus and team. This is a massive undertaking. I really like the look of LU Gateway. Homebrew would be a nice addition, but I am sure it would be tricky to implement. With all the published material, A5E has so many choices that I would be happy to see all of it come together.
I...
Welcome to A5E. I think you will enjoy the system. I took the same approach as lichmaster, but I have heard of many who came to A5E because of MoMe. I guess it depends on your style of GM’ing. Good luck.
I assume we are just talking about characters from…oh nevermind. I could spend a day re-creating a single Tolkien character in A5E. Besides nothing good comes of asking nerds to define Tolkien characters. This way lies madness.
Hmmm. Ok this is not a sarcastic answer. I would have advised you not all have spent your money on the PHB 2024. I would have said one person buy it. Another person buy A5E. See which is better. Which suits the style and level of customisation that suits your group. I don’t think you will get a...
The question is really “can you tweak backgrounds?” and the answer is yes, but perhaps with Narrator discretion. The existing backgrounds are templates for quick character creation. There are guidelines for making your own backgrounds in A5E (in O5E, most people missed that you were supposed to...
For several reasons I prefer hex maps over square grids. I am going to make some assumptions, but that is what is required in miniature combat. The horse is Large, therefore it “can” occupy a 2x2 grid. It does not actually take up that space, but has the potential to be somewhere in that box. In...
In A5E Mithril (I will never spell it with an a) Plate is still heavy armour and therefore you do not add a Dex modifier to AC. A5E is still 5E and that is how it is was done in the 2014 edition. In 3E/PF1 mithril armour reduced the armour type one category so that heavy was treated as medium...
I do not think it should take the same time to make a scroll or potion as it does to make other magical items. Most editions of D&D have had rules on the creation of magical items, but 5e was particularly light on the subject. A5E has fashioned a decent set of rules or guidelines, but did not...
I do not believe that it is an oversight. The wording for the Thirsting Blade feature is nearly identical to that used in O5E. It does not use the term Extra Attack because it only applies to the pact weapon (as per Mearles and Crawford). This issue does not occur in O5E because in that...
I am not sure what you are implying here. Thirsting Blade gives you two attacks with your pact weapon.
So if that weapon is one handed and does not have the heavy property, then you may use another weapon in your off hand that has the dual wielding property. As a 1-4th level warlock that is one...
With regards to off hand attacks, I would treat Thirsting Blade the same as extra attack. Do you believe Thirsting Blade should not be treated the same because the words “extra attack” are not used?
Adventurer’s Guide pg. 446
When you take the Attack action and attack with a weapon that does not have the heavy property that
you are wielding in one hand, you can use your bonus action to attack with a different dual-wielding melee weapon that you are holding in your off-hand. You do not add...
