Feats aren't supposed to penalize. They are supposed to be a return on investment by the player.
For those specific cases, yes it is useful, BUT in most others (like life or death combat) it is not. So what's the problem? It clearly doesn't work well all the time, or for every spell, so I...
These are feats, they are NOT supposed to penalize the caster; but give them a "balanced" measurable return for investing in learning it. ASF, or any other penalty shouldn't be suggested/implemented with this type of feat IMO.
In Felix's thread on the same idea, I gave feedback on essentially the same feats, but I'll address it here as well. I wouldn't allow Reduce unless its modification was 0 levels because it's too abusable to get something for nothing. Most spells aren't cast at their max range IME so this is...
Did a couple of these over on the WizO's boards myself so I thought I'd share some feedback ;)
3 levels lower is way too much. I would go with 2 lower, but probably 1 lower is best.
Think you have a typo there in the first sentence second word ;) I would go with the suggested half damage...

I think what Thanee's getting at is that number involved in the choice isn't a linear progression for a point basis analysis. After a point it is a diminishing return because all you have is 1 choice. It doesn't matter if there are 25 really good feats or 1000 whatever feats, you still only get...
Not OGL as far as I remember, but a quick google proved fruitful as far as availability & pricing. Looks like it's still available & on sale from RPGNow:

Basically it's a familiar that is a spirit (as traditional familiars are described)...
Excellent work Khaalis! Been following this thread off & on while my DM & I work on converting his homeworld into 3.5 & I must say this is good stuff :D
A note on the work you & FoxWander have been working on: there is a "companion spirit" in the mage class in The Elements of Magic (original...
Well, if you've never seen Szatany's work on the wizo's boards this should be of great interest on this topic as there are not one, but several options to get a druid without wildshape ;)
