    NeuroZombie's Savage Worlds Character Sheet

I like it! 😄 Clean as a whistle. I’ll give it a try at my Monday night game.

    D&D 5E Strongholds & Followers: A Review

Wasn’t a fan either. While I appreciate the attempt to try to make henchmen a thing, instead it just adds another rules subsystem that doesn’t really jive with the existing mechanics, which I think would add more confusion at the table. Wound levels instead of hp, a slightly different way of...

    Elemental Evil miniatures

Got a few boosters yesterday, and I'm a little annoyed with the scale, which seems to be all over the place. Some of the figs seem to be 25 mm, others more like 30. According to the pics you linked to, the owlbear looks about the same size as the gnoll. Just like all the other sets, this one...

    D&D 5E Surprise!

Since the party noticed 2 out of the 3 groups of enemies, I'd rule that the party is alerted enough to not suffer the surprised condition. I would, however, allow the enemies still hidden to attack with advantage.

Should the attack with the warhammer be +2 and +0 damage?

D&D 5E D&D 5e Basic Set: Things that make you go "what?!"

Well, mass cure wounds has a casting time of 1 action. Prayer of healing, 10 minutes. One is a combat spell, the other is not.

    D&D 5E Official D&D Basic Discussion Thread

My nitpick for the day: quilted armor has disadvantage on stealth. I understand the need for rules balance, but...wha?

    D&D 5E Starter Set Excerpt 2 -- Equipment

Ooh. I must say I like the fonts. They give me an old-school warm fuzzy. Like many people here, however, I am a bit worried about the tool proficiency issue. It was clunky in the last playtest, and I hope they cleaned it up for the release.

[Trailer] The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Didn't quite love part one but I'd be lying if I said this trailer didn't get me excited. And Evangeline Lily as an elf? That's some perfect casting right there, even though she's not in the book.

Roleplaying since the 80s and I'm really tired!

I am the same age as you JL, and I got into gaming at the same age as well.although I haven't reached the same level of burnout as you (still curious how 5e will turn out) I share your nostalgia of the days when a D&D character could fit on a single sheet of notebook paper.

D&D 5E To all the Play-testers: Is it worth it?

Hard to know what I think what the finished product will look like, since they do have a ways to go before this thing is done. As it stands now, they are taking some rather elegant mechanics and piling on the fiddliness, which is the same exact mistake wotc made with 3e And 4e. I don't have a...

D&D 5E Whats so hard about character creation?

You can have options without complexity. Maybe this is just a case of watching sausage being made, but right now Next is a pretty fugly game. Also, suggesting someone go play something else is rarely a satisfying answer. If you want complexity and truckloads of options, stick with Pathfinder...

D&D 5E Do Away with Weapon Attack, Magic Attack, Save Bonuses

Not sure if this does much to fix things...you've just moved the attack bonus chart from the class chapter to the equipment chapter. This reminds me of the days when your proficiency with a weapon had less to do with talent and skill, and more about the number of plusses on your sword. I get the...

D&D 5E Do Away with Weapon Attack, Magic Attack, Save Bonuses

Ok, fair enough. Although, i would say they are less modern, rather than anti- modern. Still, the question stands. Do we allow a fighter to be trained in the melee combat skill, or make room in the book for bigger charts and extra rules? Is tradition and elegant rules design mutually exclusive?
