D&D 5E Cloner's Corner: I'm thinking of going two attacks per action at level 1.

How about granting the option of making a free extra attack when using the Attack action, but only if the first one misses? This solves the problem of the do-nothing turn without having to to tweak the opponents quite as much.

D&D 5E Is going from MAD to SAD worth one feat slot?

You have a point with non-bladesinger wizards, but a barbarian's unarmored defense feature would make obviating strength without sacrificing damage output a great option.

    D&D 5E Weapons You Miss

Probably because having a magic weapon is so monumentally important, despite the claim that the default assumption is "no magic items".

    D&D 5E Weapons You Miss

"Bohemian Ear Spoon" sounds like something that you troll newbies with, like "breastplate stretcher" or "left-handed smoke shifter".

D&D 5E [Poll] What is. The best saving throw proficency?

Failing Wisdom saves can turn you into an enemy combatant.

D&D 5E Find the Path. What? Why is this a 6th level spell?

Oh, another divination spell nerfed into uselessness to go with Locate Object.

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

You were the one comparing the 5E wizard's spell slots to the 3E wizard's spell slots, and some irrelevant stuff about breakeven points. I was comparing the 5E wizard's spell slots to his prep slots, noting how that if you start with 16 Int, and use your first 2 ASIs on Int, you will always be...

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

I wasn't really comparing the 3E wizard to the 5E wizard, though. I was pointing out that the 5E wizard is constrained by his spell slots more than his prep slots. If you want to argue that his slot capacity is too low, that's a different argument than I was making.

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

You're agreeing with me, I think. TheSword was complaining that wiz level + Int isn't all that flexible. I'm pointing out that provided you don't neglect Int, the wizard is as prepared as he possibly could be, given how many slots he has. At no point does the wizard have total spell slots...

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

I was with you until you said this. I agree that moving away from Vancian was brave (and good riddance!), but a level 5 wizard only has 9 slots. If he started with a 16 Int, and used his 4th level ASI on Int, he can prepare exactly as many spells as he has slots, so he's as versatile as he could...

Dragonlance Elmore's 'The Four Women of Dragonlance' Painting Is Finished

Left to right: Goldmoon: barbarian chieftain's daughter, and bearer of the crystal staff, which has healing powers (important because the gods have left Krynn, and magical healing has been unavailable since), kicking off the conflict in the Dragonlance Chronicles. Tika: barmaid-turned-fighter...

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

Not in 5E, they don't (which is what the thread is tagged with). Not these spells in particular, nor lines and spheres in general.

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

Well, Aganazzar's Scorcher (how did your Light Domain cleric get this spell, house rule?) is a crap spell, little better than Burning Hands, because of the short range. Light Domain is not a domain for the cleric who wants to mix it up in melee, since they don't get heavy armor.

D&D 5E Why are potions of healing so expensive?

This is 5E, what else are you going to spend your money on?

D&D 5E Lightning Bolt should be better.

While it's hard to get a bunch of targets perfectly lined up for a lightning bolt, it's far easier to use it in the first place than fireball. I play a Light Domain cleric, and last session when I cast fireball, I got a response from one of the players "Whoa, you can fireball?!". Yes, Mike, I...
