Haven't got my hands on Volo yet, but there have been Easter Eggs aplenty sprinkled throughout the Core Three, i.e Battlerager, Warlord, Ravenloft...

Sure this has been answered on another thread/Tweet/errata etc, so sorry if this is redundant but do you use your overall level or caster level to determine damage, i.e. Ray of Frost increases to 2d8 @ 5th level: can my level 4 Ftr MC into Wiz @ level 5 and still do 2d8?
My group was doing a 2-3 week fill-in adventure which ended spectacularly with our Wild Mage casting Fireball in the hull of a ship at sea. As we slowly sank to the ocean floor, "faint, ethereal music played" (97-98). We all heard "Taps", crunched up our Character Sheets, and started rolling new...
I'm personally gunna wait and see what they give us before I digitally grumble and moan. "More Feats!" could include Racial Feats, Class-specific Feats, Background-specific Feats, etc., not simply OP'ed splat, as you kids say.

No, I think that actually means your players care more about PC design than simply taking the best min/max option. If you just want to do more Damage, then please, take all you ASI's. If you want to craft a truly unique PC, then indulge in the Feats.
I'm still very confused by the argument of Feats vs ASI's. It's so simple: take the easy route to min/maxing or get creative and add a level of depth to your PC design. Why all the hiccups, y'all?!
Pretty sure I just found the 5E Warlord: PHB, p51, Paragraph 2. --Storm Sorcerer was hinted at PHB, p99, Paragraph 2. The signs are out there, people!!
In regards to an expanded Weapon/Armor list, imagine that each entry is simply the default for that type weapon/armor. For example, under Shields we might find: Buckler and Full-Shield. Under Dagger we might find Stiletto, Dirk, and Sai. Now I know they recommend reflavoring the Weapon List to...
Really for me, all of this was borne of something I think Mearls or Crawford (maybe Perkins) said a while back about the PHB being filled with "hints" as to material in the works, i.e. the Ravenloft example in the Intro Chapter and the now-obvious reference to the Battlerager in the Barbarian...
Had a thought: what are the odds our next "core" book is AD&D? Introduce a bunch of "optional" variants such as Race/Class prereq's, expanded Spell List and Equipment, fully fleshed-out Grid rules, Kits, Psionics, etc. It seems like the natural progression of 5th-as-cousin-of-2nd Ed...
