Official D&D names to avoid for published eBook

Man, forgot to subscribe by email to my own thread. I thought it was being ignored  Some good advice here. I like Ulrick's tip on using different names, but keeping them somewhat familiar to the reader. It's hard to put a bunch of explanatory text for each "re invented" god in a...

Official D&D names to avoid for published eBook

I saw a post avoid WotC copyright and minis (http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/328400-d-d-copy-right-question.html) and had a similar question. I'm writing a fantasy novel about our 4e D&D campaign, which I'll probably put on kickstarter for crowdfundng. In the game, we have...

How often do sex and romance come up in your games?

Seems like romance is a big part of my games. A whole story arc of my last game revolved around willing to sacrifice an NPC that one of the PCs loved, in order to save a kingdom. One of the PCs had also defined her character according to the NPC she loves. For sex, yeah, just fade to black. In...

    Elven childhood

Good graph. I decided that mental maturity would lag a bit behind humans (for the same actual time period), but her physical growth be at 1/3 rate. So her childhood crush grew up into adolescence while her body was left behind, and therefore it didn't work out. She was mentally mature enough at...

    Elven childhood

I was thinking I would do this, but maybe mature mentally a bit faster. This is definitely something I was wanting to explore and where I was heading with the whole age and maturity issue. What would happen is an elf and a human child had their first crush on each other? Invariably it seems...

    Elven childhood

I'm writing a small story about my campaign. One of the PCs (human) is in love with an elf NPC. The story revolves around the elf, and I was mapping out her childhood to expand her backstory. Now, with elves having longer lifespans than humans, does that mean that they mature slower than them...

    A good romance?

Why not initiate the romance with a short letter from the NPC? That way you give the player some warning of what's to come, and they can follow through or not. It might also be easier to do live-action romance talk by reacting to a situation (answering the written letter) than creating it...

    Labyrinth Combat

Loonook, I went ahead and used the following picture you recommended (alternating single and double wide passages to enable combat): It was a good compromise between the nice looking circular ones with curved paths, and what I could actually reproduce on a battle grid as the players...

    Labyrinth Combat

Because there's a maze maker online? ;) Good point about having only one entrance, though I'm not completely sold on only one path.

Very cool! I just told my friend, so expect at least two more!

    Chaotic neutral semi-antagonist motivations

If you watched The Wire, you might think of "Omar", who steals from drug dealers. The bad guys love to hate him and the cops hate to love him.

    Labyrinth Combat

I was thinking that the battle would happen above the maze on a glass floor of sorts. Both sides could see each other. There would be breathing grates along the way for ranged stuff to go through. Isolating one PC might be easier than my original notion of having the minotaur activate a trap...

    Labyrinth Combat

I'm going mythological Greek on my players and I'd like to run them through a minotaur labyrinth. But I want it to happen while there is combat going on. For storyline purposes, Minotaur isolates Player A and battles him solo (monster wants him to prove himself) and sends others to the maze. I...
