One of the major milestones that got me into the newer RPGs for Star Wars was the influence created by James and Kat over on the One Shot Podcast, who were the first people I ever heard play the system. This then developed into their wildly successful podcast; Campaign -- which got me to buy...
*laugh* I know what you mean. I was an avid D&D player from AD&D 1E through 4E, and even played Pathfinder. (Still do, occasionally. The perils of being a GM and not having any players who will run stuff to give you a break!) 13th Age really hit the sweet spot for me when it came to how I wanted...
I'm really jones'ing to see it. I mean, the FreeRPG Day adventure was probably the prettiest *module* I've ever seen, with glossy paper and all. The Bestiary is going to be great!
Hey Gordy, I know this is sorta thread-resurrection, but we have a Meetup group for West Michigan RPG folks at http://www.meetup.com/wmrpgers/
Hopefully that helps you out. :)
Currently we're discussing this same subject over on G+. It seems split about 50/50 of the opinion that magic weapon plusses do not count towards Miss damage.

I will also note that we ran sold out events at Origins this year (they parked us right in front of the D&D room - so all the people going to play D&D had to walk past tables of fun-having 13th Age folk!) and we just added still more events to GenCon.
There's a lot coming, and a lot of activity...
Hello everyone. I wanted to share an upcoming Game event in West Michigan that is coming up. The West Michigan Roleplaying Gamers Meetup group is hosting their first GameDay!
Where:
Out of the Box Games
114 E Main Ave
Zeeland, MI (Ignore Google Maps - they may still have the old address)...
It really takes a certain type of player to really latch onto the idea of Backgrounds and make them shine. I have seen a lot of what I classify as "wargamers" who come up with backgrounds like "Healer".
Pfeh. It's really annoying as a GM to run into these when you have other players who do...
I will have to also second the love everyone here has for Goodreader. I use my iPad exclusively in my Shadowrun game and running D&D Encounters, and the ability to have everything loaded and in one small package is amazing.
I also want to thank the recommendation for i4e - bought that and will...
I know that there's a group or two that play downtown in GR at GrandLan game center once or twice a month on Saturdays. They do 4e and Pathfinder.
I also run D&D Encounters at Legends Sports and Games in Woodland Mall every Wednesday for a small-ish group of 4-6 players. (Mainly because I need...
Dungeon Mapp seems to be very slick, though the one-orientation lock limits its usefulness for those of us with cases / stands.
Otherwise, great application!
