Gamers wanted, Minnesota (Twin Cities area). HackMaster

I'm looking for 1-3 players for a once a month HackMaster 5e game in the twin cities on Friday nights. We're generally older (40s with kids) but I'm more concerned with personality fit versus other factors. The is a new campaign. I can provide more details if interested.

    HACKMASTER Basic - for free!

Just like any game mechanic, you could ignore the honor system with relative ease if you dislike it that much. Or, you could build an argument for why your PC acts a certain way. I assume your GM would be on board as long as you were consistent (at least I would as a GM). In my game we use...

Games with opposed dice rolls - are they better, worse or no different?

Might just be how you handle it. In my HackMaster campaign since it's opposed we roll at the same time, keeps everyone involved but doesn't really slow things down much. If however, you have to check results, then do more rolling, I can see it adding to the game time.

Games with opposed dice rolls - are they better, worse or no different?

The new version of HackMaster uses opposed rolls for everything. The game is designed for this mechanic and saves, feats of strength, combat, etc. all use opposed d20 rolls. It doesn't slow down the game that much (in my opinion) I have gamed 25 years now and played every version of D&D and...

Hackmaster Advanced Players Handbook ('5th Edition')

As an aside (I don't think/hope this violates any rules) For those interested in trying this out there's some of the kenzer forum members running a Pity-Party con next weekend since they cannot attend Origins. It's online, free, and all HackMaster players get a free HackMaster Basic PDF Might...

Feel free to email me directly at jerimy_at_kenzerco_dot_com THe way our system processes flat rates for shipping when you do orders like this is that is puts in a flat number (in this case $11 to ship 5 books) but when you get to the check out screen it says "Free shipping" because the...

[Hackmaster] To anyone who's ever been slightly interested in trying this game out...

Wow crazy! I've been playing HMB since before it came out officially, i have never seen a combat that long ever. Think the longest we ever reached was about 130-145 range. I can't imagine a 400 count combat! I kind of want to see one now.

[Hackmaster] To anyone who's ever been slightly interested in trying this game out...

Good question. It's a design mechanic that handles a couple of design decisions. 1. open ended damage and multiple damage dice per weapon. When swinging a long sword with 2d8p damage (the p stands for re-rolling the max number and adding to it) it's easy to rack up some large wounds. 10 HP...

    Advanced Hackmaster

It's been my groups game of choice since 4E. I played HMB the day it came out (actually before at Garycon) and we love it. I have ran several campaigns, but basically it hits all my buttons of realism, gritty, challenging, fun, and all the stuff Face and Kurt said. I am biased but it's by far...

    Christmas 2011 RPG Holiday Sales?

Kenzer and Company has been running sales for the last couple weeks now. They are on their homepage and they have been changing every so often. Right now there is a sale on an Aces and Eights package (like 50% off). I don't know how long they plan to do these sales for, but they are fairly...

Game Prep on a Pizza Box!

Well played sir. I used to be an architect and I can't tell you how many building designs and problems we drew on cocktail napkins at bars. Sadly, designing $50 million dollar buildings pales in comparison to Lovecraftian roper dungeons!

    AHM Hacklopedia of Beasts pictures

This is also a basic principle of economics. Kenzer is spending X amount of dollars on hardcover books and it wishes to not only recover this amount but turn a profit. They want to offer the hardcover and a PDF, but they don't want to kill the sales of their own hardcover book by selling the...

    The Voting Booth is Open!

Ahh, I didn't know that's how it worked. I have never voted on Ennie stuff before, I just got to the page from a cross-post from another forum. that's cool, was just curious. Thanks for the prompt reply.

    The Voting Booth is Open!

I went through it three times (but I still may have missed it) but is there any reason Kenzer and Company isn't listed in the favorite publisher? I wanted to vote for them. Just curious. Thanks
