    General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

I tend to think it was more the institution. The Jedi Order, while technically independent, had become such an arm of the Republic Senate by the time of the prequels that any action they undertook would be perceived as representing Republic policy. Going into Hutt space and busting up slaving...

    General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

Anakin was a slave, that was more than just background worldbuilding. One of his childhood ambitions was to one day return to Tatooine and free all the slaves, but it seems the rest of the Jedi order had no particular interest in that. I think a droid liberation angle would be interesting to...

D&D General What do you like about Eberron?

Yeah, if anything it's turn-of-the-twentieth-century Europe rather than medieval Europe.

Hyperdimensional dungeons need gelatinous hypercubes patrolling their corridors.

I think a lot of it could just go back to the Clone Wars, though. The CIS's heavy use of droids combined with their brutality almost certainly created a general level of antipathy towards their use in such roles, no doubt encouraged by the Emperor since droid production on those levels would be...

Can anyone in the Star Wars universe? Not much difference between Palpatine influencing the Senate through Dark Side influence and propaganda and him reprogramming them. And what about cyborgs like Lobot, do they lose all rights as soon as they get a piece of hardware integrated with their brains?

    D&D 5E (2024) Need a recommendation for polymorphing enemies

Picking up a hostile creature requires, at the very least, an attack action to grapple. And which teleportation spell are you using to take an unwilling creature with you?

That's becoming a lot of actions to maintain a purely temporary debuff of a group of enemies.

Is that a confection or a crime scene?

Whales aren't fish, so they don't need to hold their breath. I think it was more the trout example that was being called out.

Killer whale? Nasty attack, but only 5 ft walking speed and 90 hp. Alternatively, throw in a bag of rats and cast it on them to turn them into T-Rexes, then wait while they fight it out with the bad guys and go in afterwards.

D&D General What do you like about Eberron?

Just a shame that it somehow managed to fall victim to the "all dwarves are the same" trope. Even between the Aurum, the dragonmarked house and the subterranean lost civilisation, there's still little to distinguish them from dwarves of other settings, a rare miss for this setting.

It's dragons all the way down. :)

D&D General What do you like about Eberron?

Eberron's unique planar cosmology also appeals to me. I like the idea that it's not assumed to be part of a wider multiverse, and having the planes "orbit" the material plane in such a way that their effects can be more keenly felt upon the world at certain times opens up new possibilities for...
