    Frank Zappa

"Joe's Garage" totally changed my outlook on music and art. Dioltach, I'll DM you with any typos! (Kidding, of course -- I'm sure you did a fine job.)

Was Gary Gygax's English Teacher Hollywood Actor Kerwin Mathews?

Because I am super bored lol, I found Gary's 1953 High School yearbook (two mentions, p. 24 under "Sophomore Class" and p. 51 under "Future Farmers of America." You'll need to make a throwaway account to see the pages large enough to read). None of the faculty listed at the front, though...

    ALL THINGS BRUCE LEE

There's no wrong time to rewatch The Last Dragon.

    ALL THINGS BRUCE LEE

Bruce Lee, man did I have an obsession. Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate his artistry, his athleticism, his charisma, his philosophies, his bright-burning screen presence. But for a couple of years in high school, I consumed everything Lee (as did, tbf, quite a large number of young boys...

    Good fantasy reads?

Take a book, leave a book! I was recommended "The Name of the Wind" years ago but just started reading it while homebound and so far (half), it is a super fun read. Quite apart from the story and characters, I kind of love Rothfuss' writing style. So, I'll leave that. Yoinking "The Black...

D&D General Joe Manganiello's D&D Campaign Includes a Game of Thrones Creator & Vince Vaughn

Eesh. Not to be "that guy," but I really just want to say this thread left me with a bad taste. I don't expect anyone to change their opinions or stop sharing them, just sharing my own. I read a lot of RPG forums and I've always found Enworld enjoyably drama-free, but to me this thread was just...

What are some D&D products that used a 3rd-party's IP?

TSR's "Alice In Wonderland" duo is the first I recall (not already mentioned, unless I missed it): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/17039/EX1-Dungeonland-1e https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/17040/EX2-The-Land-Behind-the-Magic-Mirror-1e

Was Firefly Inspired by a RPG?

Huh! Thanks for posting, I'd never heard this before but that pretty much moves the question well beyond my "coincidence horizon."

    Tracking mini options?

Alea Tools sells a series of (not cheap but awesome) magnetic, differently colored mini bases, as well as adhesive ferrous circles for the mini bottoms. The numbered stickers they sell are a bit too small for me to read easily, so I just use different colors and color code the stats in my notes...

Appearance and Realities ... at the BOX OFFICE

Taste truly is subjective. I watched a video last night entitled something like "10 Most Cringey Scenes from 'Cats'," and I was like, "I dunno, looks kind of fun." 🤷‍♂️

    The mandalorian [Spoilers]

Four episodes in and I remain totally on board, it's been a hoot to watch. I had one tiny twinge on the most recent episode when I thought to myself, "Wait, why doesn't he just use those ginormous laser cannons on the front of his ship to rout that entire contingent, AT-ST and all?", but the...

    Disney+ in general

Curious if anyone knows, as I've not been able to ferret the answer out of Google: I notice there are a bajillion different "Spider-Man" cartoons streaming on D+... except the one I actually wanted to rewatch, the one from '67. Anyone hear anything if there are plans to add that to the mix...

Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

I do hear GURPS isn't good at Supers-- a lot -- so I imagine I'm missing something, somewhere, since I've never had any issues. But in addition to being full of gritty detail, it's also full of cinematic, over-the-top options that make it easy to run games even more gonzo than the typical...

Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

OP, I feel for ya, getting "stuck" in a game you're not enjoying sucks. Does seem like it has more to do with the group, though, not the system. Most of this has already been mentioned by others -- I, too, have GMed GURPS games for decades running the gamut from "super simple romp with cartoon...
