    Healing Word and short rests.

Well, a healing word will heal (surge value) + 1d6 + Wis Mod. Assuming a Wis of 16 (not unreasonable) that averages out to (surge value) + 7. If their surge value is less than 8 (meaning they have less than 32 HP which is nearly guaranteed for 1st level characters), Healing Word will AT LEAST...

add 1/2 level to ability checks? What? Why?

On the other hand (and I tend to think that requiring training in a skill for most purposes is a bad one) ANYONE can be trained in ANY skill for the cost of a feat. Now that feats aren't precious and rare, I don't think that's much of a cost (although getting the dex to use it really well might...

Campaign Idea- help me build on it please!!

The workers should have had SOME reason to unionize. The reason people organize like that is they feel they need power. What were they struggling against? The doppleganger-as-union-leader bit HELPS, but I'd put something else in.

    Healing Word question

The 1d6 is referred to as "an additional 1d6 Hit Points". It's 1/4 Max + 1d6 HP. Vael is right MOST of the time. But people other than clerics can gain access to the Healing Word power.

    Bloodied

There is no inherent effect. It can, however, trigger other effects.

    How do I create minions?

You also need to make it's attacks do a constant amount of damage. I *think* that the correct method is to take the average damage of an attack and round down, but I'm not really sure (and I haven't really looked at the minions to make sure).

Paladin vs Fighter: Who is the better Defender?

The warlock. Hard to tell. Fighters seem to get slightly better damage output, but Paladins have a lot of other abilities that might make up for it (improved healing interesting and useful status effects).

Compiled list of errors in KotS pre-gen characters?

Given that there IS no KotS pre-gen ranger, that's pretty impressive.

    D&D 4E Are easy checks....easy? (4e spoliers)

    Whoops! Well, color *me* embarrassed.

    D&D 4E Are easy checks....easy? (4e spoliers)

I'd say that a task that a minimally talented (non negative stat mod) trained person can succeed 100% of the time when they're not in significantly stressful situations (i.e. not in an encounter) *IS* easy. Your DCs are wrong across the board. You're talking about level 1 skill difficulties...

Half-Elf Cleric and at will, suggestions?

With little to go on other than "Priestess of Corellian" and "good (non-int) stats" it's a little hard to tell. It would be a LOT easier if we knew her exact stats so we could match the Dilettante ability to them. Fighter: if she's not built as a melee cleric, I'd stay away. Otherwise look at...

    Ranger is the new monk?

I tend to agree. From my perspective, most of the clamor is "This power is broken!" rather than "The class as a whole is broken!" Personally, I think that Ranger is a solid class that does its job well. Much like most of the other classes seem to (I'm a little iffy on the Leaders, but it's...

    Ranger is the new monk?

Mur? Rangers have a bunch of Immediate Interrupts (both daily and Encounter) that are "you attack me and I move away". I can think of two off the top of my head.

    Shifty vs move

Normally shifting is a move action. Shifting as a minor action > shifting as a move action

    Implement ambiguities

Hrm. I can't see anything that explicitly PREVENTS it from happening. None of the entries on Implements says anything I can see (I've only looked at the class lists and the stuff in the magic items section). Regardless, I am SURE that wasn't intended to happen. I might just be overlooking...
