Yeah, I don't know. It seems an obvious leap given that typical fantasy characters are kinda super heroes in some senses.
I've never played Champions but I grabbed the villains books for the inspiration. I'd never chew through that much rule system.

Hit Points are the number of models to remove from a unit on the tabletop based on an enemy unit's attack (dividing through for multi hit models).
It's just now there are 1 model units and the models are optional.

I just use bookmarks and the index... I used to write things down but discovered that I can track HP in my head... if I want to play video games, I'll do that :-)

Wargaming (historical) is arguably mostly logical and consistent within very narrow limits. As soon as they tacked on magic and/or the vagaries of trying play individual characters you are in a no persons...
Like book stores, games stores need to do some very fast catching up to stay afloat with the Grey Goo trying to digest them. They have options though, they're just hard to see when you're slogging away in the trenches trying to turn a buck. If fans would unite they could save a bunch of FLGS...
A bit of proofreading surely wouldn't be all that hard, especially if the proofreader were also a plattester who gets a chance to run through the whole thing once or twice to understand kind of what the author is aiming at.

I won't defend WotC's stuff, partly because that's been done enough and partly because it's a matter of taste in part. I see the point that the noble art of Game Design may disapprove in 1000 ways too.
