Given the tone of everything so far released about the new edition, I'd say it pretty much comes down to: "If that's the way you want it, that's the way you do it".

What astounds me about the Vancian haters is the assumption they seem to make that every wizard has access to every spell at all or even most times. What DM worth his or her salt lets the wizard character put any (or all) desired spells into the spell books?

Seen it twice. Once was my 3rd ever character Noffham. A big, bluff, fun-loving fighter on the model of Fafhrd.
Then one DM had a trapped room with a machine that changed alll your stats to the average of what you rolled. So he ended up with all stats at 12. That's the day I retired him. :(
That's a tough question. There were 100s of new rooms this year and people drop rooms as plans change all the time.
