D&D 5E Length of peoples Campaigns?

For my groups, I tend to run multi-year campaigns that interweave. So everyone plays in the one universe, and affect the future stories of the other group. I'll have one group finish a huge three year campaign, then my other group will start a game that deals with the after effects of the first...

D&D 5E How to Handle Monster Knowledge Checks

I usually don't bother with rolls for common things. Stuff one hears in the process of growing up is easy to know: goblins are tricky, orcs charge fast, ogres are immensely strong, or even that basilisks turn you to stone. For less common knowledge, I let any player roll on any one knowledge...

D&D 5E Nezznar the black spider from LMoP only has concentration spells

It's been months since I ran the encounter but isn't he accompanied by two hobgoblins and four giant spiders? I think a web spell with the spiders ignoring it and the hobgoblins throwing ranged weapons should be enough challenge. Doesn't he have a fireball spell too? Shouldn't be a problem.

D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse Hits the Shelves!

To clarify, do you go to a printer or do you mean you print them using your own printer? Is that laminated, I can't tell. And if so, where do you go to get all that for $13?

D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse Hits the Shelves!

For me it was roughly around $40 and I was using a coupon they had available. You could check RetailMeNot for a coupon.

D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse Hits the Shelves!

Pretty easy. I just took the digital image to FedEx Office and they blew it up to 24x36 for me and laminated it. Quality still looks great. Then Mike Schley posted updated player maps that were even better later that same day. *facepalm* Apparently I got too excited.

D&D 5E What to do when Pc's die? What then for that player?

My players usually come back as one level lower than the dead character (assuming a rez isn't available). That's enough incentive not to treat death lightly but is not too harsh. If players prefer a more brutal punishment, that's up to them to decide.

    D&D 5E Leveling Up

I always require a long rest to gain any XP at all. I would prefer to require training and down time, but my adventures tend to run long and aren't episodic in nature so that's a bit harder to pull off. Can't exactly have a training montage while the world is in constant danger.

D&D 5E A NEW interview with Mike Mearls

I remember in the playtest when Mage was the name of the class, with them becoming Wizards when they chose a school. I liked that, reminded me of the old school titles for each level.

    D&D 5E So who is playing 5E?

My group is running LMoP (should be the last part of it next week). We love it, we also play another Pathfinder game and while we like it, we generally prefer the simplicity of 5th edition. I bought HotDQ with the intention of running it after, but after reading through it I found it was not...

D&D 5E WotC: Please do something about divine spells known bloat in 5e

I agree. I tend to only play with the core three books and maybe an extra MM or two to diversify my monsters. Anything after that is a no go. They're just not worth the hassle and entitlement I find they bring. That said, I like 5th enough that I'm considering allowing my players to try and...

Not sure if these got posted anywhere here but I thought I'd share just in case. These look really cool. Spoilers ahead! https://twitter.com/TheRedEpic/status/497184673433255936

D&D 5E What Campaign Setting Do You Plan On Using?

Probably start in the Realms but every game I run inevitably goes back to the glory that is Planescape.

D&D 5E The Power of Poison: A little math

An action, and I think previous poisons lasted a similar short period before drying up. The idea being that you applied it shortly before entering a fight you knew was happening. Edit: The cost is probably to prevent excessive use, better for a one-shot assassination type situation than...

D&D 5E The Power of Poison: A little math

Quite different from 3rd edition poisons which were one time use things. The wording here is somewhat vague but doesn't actually say it's a one time use item so I suppose the interpretation is valid. Just threw me for a loop.
