Pathfinder OGL/3.5 RPG system from Paizo

This is awesome news. Way to go Paizo! I've been with you ever since your first issues of Dragon and Dungeon and I feel almost proud of how you've grown up. This is a ballsy move, but I think you're going to make it work. I know I'll be there, buying the products and cheering every step of...

The Devil's in the Details: Slavicsek reveals the Pit Fiend in all its glory

I am reading the Pit Fiend`s ability to detonate minions as only applying to the devils he has currently summoned. Irresistible command affects one allied devil of lower level than the pit fiend Infernal Summons conjures a group of devil allies. It could be an obtuse interpretation, but...

D&D FR novels, the good, the bad, and the ugly

The good: Whisper of Waves. I loved the re-interpretation of Ayn Rand's the Fountainhead. It is certainly one of the most unique trilogies in the FR library. Big props to WoTC for allowing such a distinctly unorthodox novel to be published. The Bad. The Hunter's Blades Trilogy Blech...

The Devil's in the Details: Slavicsek reveals the Pit Fiend in all its glory

Ah, so this is where the real discussion is. The news item only has a page and a half of discussion! I think that this monster is a wuss, a chump, a loser and worst of all, boring for the DM to run. At 26th level, a monster should be able to do more then just one of 3 possible options. He...

What Are You Going To Do With the Money You're Not Spending on New WotC 3.X products?

The new 40K RPG - Dark Heresy. Of course all of my gaming money at the moment is going to the new baby budget, but I'd like to think I'll be back to my normal self-indulgent purchasing habits soon enough!

Heroes Season [Volume] 2 (#28)---10/22/07-'Flight or Fight'

Best episode so far this year. Question - The 9th Wonders comic that Micah had. Was it a "new" issue? I got the impression that it was a later issue then the ones we had already seen. Since it was Isaac who had been drawing the comic, either he's not dead, or someone else has his power...

D&D 4E Which Classic Module(s) Would You Like to See in 4E?

I voted for "Quagmire!". Giggity Giggity Goo!

    Psionics in your game?

I allow and even encourage psionics... all to no avail. I cannot convince my players to give it a try. So, there are no psionics in my game, but it's not my fault.

    New May WotC cover art

Well, it says it's an Forgotten Realms adventure, but, since the thread is about cover art..... The cover art clearly marks it as something other then an FR acessory. For comparison, check the Tearing of the Weave adventure cover art. It matches the FR style, but this adventure does not. I'd...

    New May WotC cover art

Since the thread title is not specific to the Drow, I think it's safe to post this here - being new cover art and all...

Ever had a player in your group throw a tantrum or worse? Most uncomfortable moment?

I've found that for some reason games can bring out the worst in people. Some people seem to realize that there should be a disconnect between what is happening on the table and the real world. Of course that is perhaps in part because the people who seem to have the biggest such problems...

Ever had a player in your group throw a tantrum or worse? Most uncomfortable moment?

That's funny because I know exactly what you're talking about. I wish Jack Chick wrote more D&D cartoon parables.

Iconic Monster Use - The Aboleth

Often. There was additional web content for Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil which detailed an Aboleth section of the outer fane which I made extensive use of, going so far as to actually expand it by quite a bit. My players enjoyed it so much (ie:hated it) that i've tried to include...

How often have you used Beholders?

In the campaigns I've run, I ran one in RttToEE and one in Shackled City. They're certainly memorable encounters, especially the Shackled City one (since he shows up multiple times). Now, in a campaign that I play in, but don't DM, we recently ran through an extended Underdark-type adventure...

    Red Hand Of Doom, questions

I ran RHoD this summer for my regular group, but due to real world intrusions, we stalled out just before the Ghostlord. I'm looking to run it again for a different group and I like the idea of starting them out a level or two lower and then working up toward the events in the module. Those...
