Batman & Supes: Maybe WB got the memo after all?

He's a good actor, and I'm all for casting against type, but my concerns about Frazier are twofold: (1) He is so very much associated with other films (The Mummy series in particular) that I'm not sure audiences will easily accept him as Supes; and (2) He's Getting Old! I would think they'd want somebody a lot younger in order to take this to a multi-year series.

When the news that Michael Keaton (Beatlejuice!!???) was doing Batman...everyone was up in arms! So I've learned not to judge a casting choice before i see it.

Hmmm, am I the only person that didn't like Keaton as Batman?
I still believe he didn't have the physical presence at all.

Nope. I'm right there with you. Out of all the Batmans to date, I think Clooney was probably the best in terms of presence, but far from perfect. Of course, Clooney would have liked to have increased the amount of camp in the movie, so he can take a long walk, IMHO. The costume does most of the work for Bats -- it's Bruce Wayne that's hard to cast.

If he wasn't linked to Wolverine, I could see Hugh Jackman as both Batman and Bruce Wayne. _Maybe_ Matthew McCaunahey (sp?), but he might fall as short as Val Kilmer did.

Actually I liked Val Kilmer. I thought he did Wayne pretty well. The only failing in that movie (IMHO) was Tommy Lee Jones trying to make Two Face into another Joker.

The utterly attrocious nature of Batman and Robin pretty much meant I don't even consider Clooney's performance. I try to ignore the whole experience.

Nobody in hollywood's read a freakin' comic book?!?!?!

Anyone attached to a new Superman movie needs to put Patrick Warburton in a red-and-blue jumpsuit, give him a curly-Q lock of hair centered on his forehead, and Save themselves a WORLD of grief!

The man is the genetic inheritor of Clark Kent, down to the voice! :)

Howcum nobody mentions Dean Cain? I was pretty happy with him as Superman in Lois & Clark. He has that all-American good-guy look.

I still strongly maintain, as I have in the past, that Dominic Purcell (John Doe from the TV series of the same name) would be a perfect Superman. He's got the physique without being too muscle-bound to pass as Clark Kent, he can act, he's definitely got the whole "square jaw" thing down, and he's still a sufficiently small-name actor (with only the one big part credited to him to date) that I don't think he'd have past associations preventing people from accepting him as Superman (something Brendan Fraser might have to deal with).

I never thought Dean Cain had a super-look...

I'd slap back-dye over Richard Burgi's hair and let him fly:

He has a look reminiscent of Alex Ross's Superman. I find Brendan Fraser has a less-than-serious look even when he's trying to be serious... Of course, if M. Night Shyamalan signs in as a director, he can prove himself earlier by making Ashton Kutcher serious in the upcoming "The Woods"...

Brendan Fraser as Superman: I love him as an action hero, but he does have a certain tongue-in-cheek quality that could spoil things, if he can't shake it. I haven't seen The Quiet American, though.

I read somewhere that Dominic Purcell had been cast as the not-so-secret villain in Blade III (hint - Blade debuted in his comic book, which I believe was the first, and perhaps the only, comic ever named for the villain).

Add to the list of DC properties that are soon to be ruined on the silver screen: Keanu Reeves as John Constantine. I may puke. Is James Marsters just too obvious a choice? I mean, what was the problem? God have mercy on us all if Keanu tries to do an English accent again (granted, I'm not from England, but Marsters had me fooled for years, even alongside Anthony Stewart Head, who really is English).

Christian Bale as Batman: When I first heard this, I thought "oh, crap..." But then I saw "Equilibrium."

Ras Al Ghul: How about Terrence Stamp? Probably not big enough.

Superman: The entire cast of "The Agency" are out of work now. Jason O'Mara could play Clark/Supes, and Paige Turco could be Lois. The scary bald dude could be Lex Luthor, the techie guy could be Jimmy Olsen, and Beau Bridges could be Perry White...
