Batman & Supes: Maybe WB got the memo after all?

It worked a little bit in Batman Forever, but it was positively awful in Batman and Robin. Robin DOES NOT mouth off to Batman. Robin DOES NOT do what Batman specifically tells him not to do.

Well OK, Jason Todd did, and look what the fans did to him...
True, but one have to remember that Bruce and Dick also have a rift, which Dick left Bruce to become his own person.

Personally, the movie portrayal of Robin/Dick is more relatable. Jason Todd dies because he was simply getting out of hand, in the eyes of the audience. That and the fact that he's related to that Shiva villain.

Probably why audience don't take kindly to TV's Birds of Prey which feature the daughter of Batman and Catwoman.

Lady Shiva Woosan was one of the potential mothers of Jason Todd. It was eventually revealed that the true mother of Jason was the scientist that died with him when the Joker blew up the warehouse.

Quick re-cap of Batman and Robin history (in comic-book years):

Bruce Wayne became Batman circa age 26.

Bruce Wayne took Dick as his Ward when Bruce was around 29 and Dick was around 12. By the time Dick was 18 (and Bruce 35), Dick left for New York to become his own man, and later that year he quit being Robin (it took him a year or so to develop the Nightwing persona). That's when Jason Todd became Robin. He was 13, and was adopted by Bruce. He died in the next year. By this time, Bruce was 36-37 and Dick was 19-20.

Later that year, Tim Drake tried to get Nightwing to become Robin again, seeing Batman's increasing violence. In the end, Tim became a Robin-in-Training. It took him almost two years to graduate into Robin, at age 14. Bruce Wayne is 39 by now, and Dick is 22.

Tim has been Robin for nearly three years, making him about 17, Bruce 42 and Dick 25. At this time, Bruce Wayne officially adopts Dick Grayson as his son, and makes him heir to Wayne Enterprises and the entire Wayne fortune.

Yeah, I am not thinking this is a good casting job. I would rather see Mr. Bean if they are going for a comedy.
To which I repeat: Check him out in The Quiet American. His character was as dark as they come. There was nothing funny about him.

EDIT: Beg your pardon if it seems like I'm on the payroll of whatever studio made that movie :). It's just an insanely good movie that got robbed at the Oscars.

Patrick Warburton? Superman? Didn't anyone see the Tick live action TV prog? *shudder*

Hate to say it, but Dean Cain might actually be one of the better choices.

On a slight hijack, someone mentioned everyone's no. 2 computer-game-voice-villain David Warner. Does anyone know that name of the guy that voiced Sarevok in the BG series?
