Spell radii on a grid [diagram] correct?

MerakSpielman

First Post
Here is a picture of the different circular radii of spells (or similar effects) translated to which squares on a grid are effected. My players want a cheat sheet for quick reference and I want to be sure I've gotten this right.

Ooo pretty colors...

A quick "analysis"
Rad is in feet, Surface and Difference in Square feet.

Code:
Rad	Surface	Incr.	#squ.	SurfSq Incr.	Diff
5	78,5 4	100 21,5
10	314,2	300%	12	300	200%	-14,2
15	706,9	125%	32	800	167%	93,1
20	1256,6	78%	52	1300	63%	43,4
25	1963,5	56%	88	2200	69%	236,5
30	2827,4	44%	122	3050	39%	222,6

Cones are harder... You can do them diagonally or straight, which confuses things. The width at the end equalling the total length of the cone makes figuring out the angles for the sides difficult.

That said, I'll get right on it. Work is slow today. Might take me a bit.

edit: it turns out the angle of the sides is constant as the length increases. Interesting. I think it has something to do with Pythagoris. Huh.

A cone-shaped spell shoots away from you in a quarter-circle in the direction you designate

They changed cones in 3.5, giving them all a 90-degree arc. Much simpler. Makes for bigger cones too. So you can basically take your circle diagram and divide it in 4 :)

Great. Now I have to make two diagrams. One for 3.0 and one for 3.5.

Aren't cone and sphere effects described and illustrated in the PHB (3.0 or 3.5)? Wasn't there something to that avail up on WotC site sometime in the past?
