He'll always be Superman to me, no matter how many other movies they make.

(seems only fitting)

"But most will remember this sad day as the day the proudest, most noble man they ever knew finally fell. For those who loved him -- one who would call him husband, one who would be his pal, or those who would call him son -- this is the darkest day they could ever imagine. They raised him to be a hero: to know the value of sacrifice, to know the value of life. And for those who served with Superman in the protection of all life comes the shock of a failure: the weight of being too late to help. For a city to live, a man had given his all and more. But it's too late. For this is the day that a Superman died." - Superman #75, 1992 (written by Dan Jurgens)

This does seem fitting. I couldn't have said it nearly as good as that and I doubt many could.

I was never fond of either Superman as a character or of the Superman movies, BUT I greatly admired Christopher Reeves for his personal courage and determination to use his position to both raise awareness of spinal injuries in particular and of the possibilities in medicine in general.

Today I honour, not an actor, but a truly righteous man.

Fly well, my friend, for you did more than act -- you had to courage to speak forth.

Hey, folks. If you truly want to honor his memory, make his life count even more than it already has.

From there, you can donate to the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. You can even make the donation in honor, or in memory, of someone.

Please, even if you can only spare a few dollars. Christopher Reeve was well on his way toward walking again. The next best thing is to help someone else do it, in his name, and in his memory.

*Raises a glass of wine in remembrance*

To Christopher Reeve. May his memory continue to be an inspiration for everyone. He taught us that you don't need a red cape to soar and that nothing is impossible if you are convinced that it can be done. He will be missed, not just for what he represented as an actor but also for what he accomplished as a human being. He truly was Superman not because of his role, but because of his character and heart. We all mourn his passing...
