Adventure:-- LPNN (Manzanita Judging)

End of Round 4

I11: Ignoring the metagaming issue (for now), Juliana delays.

I6: Almayce moves up and heals Juliana. Juliana: “drops her flail (Free action) swap hands with the arrow (Free action), take a 5' step diagonaly towards LT (Free action), Grab her shield again (Move action, it's already on her arm), and attack with the arrow (-2 , 1d4+2, 20x2) (Standard action)

Juliana is now at 5 HP, and AC 18. Her new Initiative value should be 5 also. OK.
Cool, that’s a good description! She rolls a “16” which is good, but, with a –2 to hit, not good enough. She misses LongTooth, who growls…

I1: Vargo and Wolf: Same deal, barring new info. Vargo attempts to “aid another” while Huln attacks. Vargo gets a “2” and can’t find his own hands. Huln rolls a “8” and thinks of England. Longtooth is extremely unimpressed with these two.

Ogrin also gets a "make up" action, which he uses to stab at Slinker, rolling a "15". Not even close.

(OOC: Hmmm....looking more closely at some of these rolls, I don't think it is so much that IC hates us (although, I do agree we've gotten a few stinkers from the roller) as that some of us need to roll rather high numbers to succeed)

OOC: Sorry about that btw, and I know it seems bad, but being at 0, you can't take a standard action without hurting yourself, so standing around seemed to be the best thing to do till either he moved or something else happened.

All the fighting defensively/while grappled/with improvised weaponry isn't helping much, true.

It might be one reason why Hallidor actually landed a blow. He doesn't deal with that stuff.

Round 5

ROUND 5

LongTooth 20
Hallidor 20
BatS 19
Slinker 17
Ogrin 16
Stinker 14
Raz 13
Zaeryl 13
Juliana 6
Almayce 6
Vargo & Wolf 1

I20: LongTooth, nearly surrounded, has his pick. Hallidor’s hurt him, and Juliana’s tripped him, while Vargo and Huln have done squat. So, 1=Vargo, 2=Huln, 3-11 = Hallidor, 12=20 = Juliana. Julaian is the whackee.

“You keep coming back for more,” growls LongTooth, “it must be my winning personality…” As he steps back 5’ and swings… “5”. It’s an epidemic of missing.

I19: Bats bleed PC’s. They also inflict 1/5/6 on Raz/Ogrin/Slinker. Amazingly, Slinker finds himself wounded – and bleeding. He’s quite happy to see that Ogrin, however, has crumpled in his arms and, well, has a neck exposed in a pretty appealing way…

I17: However, before he can move, Slinker has to save vs. the bat’s nausea. He rolls a “14” and does, easily. Slinker then gives one last lingering look at Ogrin’s exposed throat and, realizing that the bats do actually pose a bit of a threat, moves away, towards the sound of his leader trading insults… assuming that the lumbering Barbarian is as good as dead.

I16: Ogrin bleeds.

I14: Stinker gives Raz the old razzle-dazzle. Poke and bite, being “15” and “9”, and the poke actually hits. Wow, “2” points of damage. Still, Raz feels the wound.

I13: Raz attempts his nausea save: “16”. NO problem. Now, the attack! “3”. OK. This is getting ridiculous.

I13: Z bleeds

I6: Juliana …

{Note Slinker has moved up and is threatening Almayce}

Juliana's next action: She will take a 5' Step (If needed) towards Longtooth, and make an unarmed trip attack (I believe I can do this with my legs, and does not provoke an AoO due to improved Trip, +2 to hit touch AC, +6 opposed str or dex check, and if fails, he can try to trip me back (Str vs +2). If I succeed, I get a free attack with the arrow (net +2 (+2, -4 for imp weap, +4 vs prone) , 1d4+2, 20x2)). "Down Boy" she taunts.

OOC: Yup. I need to keep trying the trip to give us all a +4. Good news is most of us are hard to hit back (or at least Juliana is).

"You know, I'd appreciate a bit of help over here.", Almayce mumbles to Juliana and others, as he takes a step towards Vargo, and heals this 4 points with his wand of Cure Light Wounds (touch range, 1d8+1).

Can you research this and find out if you can do this? i.e. improved trip removes the AOO for initiating a trip, but can you do this unarmed? Do you then provoke an AOO for doing a combat action unarmed? Etc.

OOC: Improved Trip removes the AOO. "If you have the Improved Trip feat, or if you are tripping with a weapon (see below), you don’t provoke an attack of opportunity for making a trip attack." Trip attacks are normally done with unarmed attacks, so it applies.

(OOC: Trips are actually usually unarmed, and Improved Trip is no exception--the weapons that allow a trip to not be unarmed are actually the exception. No AoO for Tripping unarmed if you have Improved Trip, but there is a significant disadvantage--if Juliana's trip fails, Longtooth gets an immediate attempt to trip Juliana in return for free with no AoO against him.)

Edit: Oooo, Xael wins the speed war! We said the same thing though :D
