Adventure:-- LPNN (Manzanita Judging)

round 1 (con't)

Almayce and Zaeryl advance, while fumbling with their crossbows. Julianna dofts her backpack and manages to make it around the corner for her first view of the excitement.

Rasereit steps over the body of the fallen wolf, draggin plants up by the roots as he moves. Getting in axe range of Tryggvi puts him in range of the alchemist's long spear. The spear is deflected by his strong dwarven mail. The dwarf finds his nemisis a tricky target. In fact, he thinks he sees double of Tryggvi and his axe swing finds only air. Had he had a few drinks today?

Ogrin spins through the undulating underbrush and emerges next to Tryggvi, stabbing out at him with his sword. He too curses his strange double vision as he feels no impact at his thrust.

Kopasker releases one hand from his spear, and shifts to put his back against the door. Raising his hand, he mutters another arcane word and a vivid cone of colors bursts forth, engulfing the halfling and the dwarf.

Ogrin - make will save DC 14. I'll make Razh's save as it affects Tryggvi's attack. Fail.

Round 2

Razereit, blinded and stunned, feels a sharp pain in his gut as Tryggvi's rapier finds a weak spot in his mail. (7 pts dmg)

*Since the enemy doesn't seem to be running from the sounds of pitched battle, Zaeryl decides that now would be a good time to send in an Astral Construct. He boosts his caster level to 2 in order for the summoning not to be pointless, but he still only spends a single power point. He'll summon it just beyond the corner, where it can charge a foe next round when it appears.*

Ogrin gets his shield up, protecting his vision from the flashing colours. If possible, he will take a short step or tumble in an attempt to flank Tryggvi. If not possible to flank, he'll try to Feint instead. He then makes his strike, trying to hamstring Tryggvi with a quick stab towards an exposed leg.

In an attempt to draw Tryggvi's attention from Razh to himself, he tries to goad him: "This 'runt' can sting! Come on, you coward!"

Combat Summary:[SBLOCK] Will save successful (Reaction)
Tumble successful (Move Action)
Tryggvis Sense Motive DC vs Feint: 22 (alternate Move Action)
Hits AC18, AC20 if flanking, 3 points of damage + possibly 6 points from sneak attack due to flanking/feinting. This is with a silvered short sword. (Standard action)
A halfling 'runt' intimidating a spellcaster and a fighter rogue by himself: Priceless (and a Free Action, to boot).[/SBLOCK]Manzanita: [SBLOCK]OOC: If Kopasker didn't move, doesn't he provoke an AoO from Razh when casting unless he's casting defensively?

If Flanking isn't possible at his initiative, Ogrin will try a Feint instead . Ogrin has Improved Feint which means he can do this as a Move Action. Tryggvi has to make a successful Sense Motive check, or he's fallen for the bluff and takes Sneak attack damage as well. If Tryggvi is out of range or is down at his turn, he'll go for Kopasker instead.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: I figure Almayce should have made it past the corner, at least if the map is in 5ft-grids, since he can ready the crossbow while moving. If not, Almayce moves and reloads/shoots.

IC: Almayce loads his crossbow (if you don't allow carrying loaded crossbows) and shoots at the Spearman.

OOC: Attack roll is 13. Possible damage is 3.

rln is right about the AoO. I wasn't watching the map close enough. He probably should have done something else. But I don't want to change what's happened. Let's assume by being flat against the wall he was out of axe range. Thanks for pointing that out though, rln, and thanks for all your handy links. I'd never seen that about preparing your shield on the run. Rystil - I'm clueless on psionics. Please provide links or descriptions to help me play these effects.

Zaeryl moves around the corner to view the combat, and summons a construct ('ac' on map). Almayce also rounds the corner and releases a shaft at Kopasker, which deflects off some sort of invisible armor. Juliana charges and gives him a painful wound in the shoulder.

Razh is blind and stunned. Ogrin tumbles past Tryggvi and stabs him in the side, gaining full advantage of his flanking.

Kopasker stabs at Juliana with his long spear, but gets it lodged in the dirt and drops it. He does then manage to step back into the house, out of sight of everyone except Ogrin.

Round 4
Tryggvi steps back away from Ogrin (next to Razh), snatches a small bag from his belt and hurls it at Ogrin. This strikes, exploding goo which splatters all over the halfling. (make reflex save DC 15 to avoid being stuck to ground; -2 attack; -4 dex bonus per tanglefoot bag rules)

Assuming I follow how things have progressed... (Can we get a map again?)

Juliana takes a step forward Diagonaly towards Ogrin, and looks in the door for Kopasker, and if she sees him, tries a trip attack. If she can't, makes a trip attack on Tryggvi. Either way, she misses.

Juliana Trip Attack (1d20+2=8)

Edited - Thanks for the map.

(OOC: I now have a Size Small Construct that strikes at +3 to hit for 1d6+3 damage, has 18 AC and 15 HP. Starting on the turn after I started the summoning, it should act three times and then disappear immediately after the third action, but our last GM for this game decided that he would prefer for it to act two times and then sit around until just before it would act a third time and disappear then.

If it can, the AC will use its Darkvision and Low-light Vision combo to try to find and attack Kopasker. Otherwise, it helps flank Tryggvi and attacks him.

And Zaeryl will regain Psionic Focus while firing at Tryggvi if he has a clear shot.)

(OOC: The range on the spell is 30 ft, so could he summon the Astral Construct 30 ft away towards Kopasker where it has a clear charge straight at the Alchemist with +5 to hit (total=23!) for 1d6+3 damage (AC down to 16 thanks to charging)?

Hmm...I don't see a clear shot at all, so Zaeryl will move down so he isn't clustered near enough to Almayce that both can be hit with a cone effect and regain Psionic Focus.)
