Well, since the cat's out of the bag alreadey, I hope I don't get another call from HQ!
4th edition D&D cover art! Now that we know it's going to be a collectable mini and card game format, we're screwed anyways.
I project the following changes:
all balance out the window (what's the point afterall you balance lawyers you?)
fewer skills and feats and more templates (becasue all the old geezers who tweak will be retired from gaming)
8 seperate rulebooks for starters (and one for DM's since player books are the only ones that sell)
one die to rule them all
d20 will be sold to troll lord games and Gary Gygax will take another shot at D&D cybernetics
monte cook has left his current positionto go work on 5E (because he's not working on 4E)
nobody will notice because we'll be in the basement playing console games (PC what???) leaving the internet a thing that only working older people will know about
it will be even HARDER to round up consistent players for a group
it will be even HARDER to play on a school bus
just like 1E, you'll have to wait 5 months or longer between books
nobody will teach their kids how to play 4E because the complexity of 3E is so much more realiztik and customizable which is obviously better..so much better nobody will play it in the future but old people with jobs
purchasable cards instead of character sheets
miniatures orderable online custom painted to your specifications (aka, the card)
empty convention halls
closed game stores
We'll all ask ourselves, "is this what it felt like to be the last neandertal?"
