Side question:

I was thinking of moving the pre-gaming breakfast to the Le Peep across the street from GP, assuming they can give us a big table and separate checks. The proximity means no one needs a ride to the store, and the food is trés awesome. The downside, though is that it's not quite as inexpensive as Little America.

Opinions, one way or the other?

It is a bit closer. I wonder if some of these coupons can be collected from Dominick's Food Store (on the back of their register tapes from the store at Golf and Elmhurst) prior to then to help defray the costs?

Buzz, I may re-write this synopsis if the last two eps of the season wildly change anything, since I'm running this at GenCon, but I rather doubt that will prove necessary.
No sweat.

Well, never mind on that re-write, Buzz.

Having just watched Part One of the two-part season finale...

..my event shall now be firmly rooted in an alternate universe setting, eeesh.

I'd love to meet Eric Kripke someday. I'd like to shake his hand... ..then punch him in the nose. Oi.

That's a great idea. Does anyone shop there regularly? It's a bit of a drive for me. :p

Table

One of the tables for Barendd and my game should have room for 10 people when we go to the Battle Royal portion. I don't know which table would work. Not the one by the front door that Reidzilla usually gets.
One of the back tall tables, maybe?

I've gone ahead and set aside the first tall table for your group, Sqwonk.

I'll see about saving some more of them between now and then. :)

A capital idea! Anyone who shops there, keep your eyes peeled.

Nev-

No offense, but it kinda does sound goofy. OTOH, it also sounds pretty entertaining to watch, even if you were not playing. :D

(Would it be cheating to teach each other sign language, kind of like a sociologist experiment with apes?)

Heh. Unless your players are of subhuman intelligence, that happens as a natural progression of play. Using ASL or other forms of sign language you already know is, of course, prohibited. You aren't forbidden to communicate- in fact you must learn to do so to survive. You're just forbidden to communicate using any preexisting "language".

And I didn't mean to say you couldn't play it as a goofy, cartoony caveman romp (although I wouldn't). Just that the game as designed is not a silly game. Simple as it is to learn, I've had some intense experiences with this puppy.

As for watching, I'd say the line between "observing" and "disrupting" is thinner for this game than for most, due to it's inherently nonverbal nature.

I getcha. Honestly, I read it more as a kind of 'Captain Caveman' ooo-ooo-ahh-ahh kind of campy game, but I can see how it could be done with serious intent. I see your point about disrupting the game, too-- I would guess that played straight, the game would rely heavily on versimilitude.

I am not sure it would be my cuppa', but it does sound intriguing. Do you have a link to the manufacturer handy?
