Fantasy Genetics: Half-breeds

Nah. ;)

Though, I could see adding the HD tempalte to a fiend. hm.

And, I'd rather see a fight where one of those were a White dragon. Gold and Red are immune to one another's breath weapons (Except for Gold's acid).

I love White dragons. :)

Okay... if you want really nasty:

Half-Celestial Silver Dragon vs. Half-Fiend Red Dragon.

Now, the breath weapons are exciting!!

On second thought, Just for fun...

Half-Fiend Silver Dragon vs. Half-Celestial Red dragon.

Always good to spice things up. :)

While that would be spice-a-rific, it breaks a few rules from the MM. Fiends can only bread with non-good, and Celestials with non-evil.

But if the DM allowed it, I'd still watch. :D

And?

IMHO, the only creatures that are Purely of one aligment, no ifs, ands or butts are Extra-planar critters from places of Spesific Alignment.

Fiends, Celestials, paticular Elementals, Rakshasa and Slaads for example, NEVER change their aligment (unless they like, fall or something).

Dragons, like anything else on the Material plane, can have a varying Aligment. Therefore, there are Evil silvers, or Neutral Reds, or what have you.

My game is full of Shades of Grey. :) Ask my PCs; they've saved a tribe of gnolls from being sacrificed by a tribe of Lizardfolk.

Using standard MM dragons, they do not vary in alignment, but I can easily imagine the party's relief when the Gold Dragon flies in as they fight the Red Dragon... only to have the Gold team up with the Red and roast them!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

There was an interesting article ("The Gray Order") in Dragon #299 on fallen outsiders, BTW. Good stuff.

the Jester

Legend
A creature whose alignment is listed as "Always" something isn't really always that alignment.

It's just that the exceptions are pretty much one in a million or thereabouts.

See the discussion of alignments in the MM, pg.12.

Personally, I find that figuring out just what happens when Monster X meets Monster Y is half the fun of D&D. My Night Hag Family Tree is testament to this. And yes, it’s a game, so I don’t let genetics or DNA stand in the way of a half-dragon (deep) / half-hag (night), a half-dragon aasimar, or a half-kraken/half-human.

The image below is from revision 13 of my Night Hag Family Tree. I am working on revision 15, even now.

I wish you'd blow that up Aeolius; I can't read that at all.

Yes, the MM has the Standard Creatures. Meaning, those are the Average members of said race. Just like the stats of the Average human is 11s and 10s. ;)
