My name is Dark and Im an oversupplementer.

I cant help buying every Wizards supplement (as well as non-Wizards) with a shiny cover. I then torture my campaign (as DM) to squeeze in the cool crunchy stuff in it, without regard for the campaign continuity.

My city of greyhawk is developing a 'china-town' (Living Greyhawk and Oriential adventures).
My evil Clerics of Nerull are attempting to free a Cthulu-esque outsider of godlike powers with the help of Alienists (Manual of the planes, tome and blood, defenders of the faith, deities and demigods)

My abuses extend beyond the above, but I will not expose you to my litany of shame.

Am I alone in my suffering? Does anyone else have a two foot pile of D20 books, that makes you weep to think of the money spent?

(this is not my first oversupplementing experience - I own every single Wraith the oblivion book, and had withdrawals when the line ceased).

Even though it means losing my anonymity, yes, I too have bought way more books than can ever be used. And I'll be buying more tomorrow.:D

I, too, am a supplementaholic. It began, as I'm sure many other stories begin, when I was but a wee boy.

"Collect them all." They sung to me, those tiny letters on a cardboard package. I wasn't content to simply have He-Man and Skeletor, I needed all their friends. Mossman. Stinkor. Orko. My tiny childhood mind knew no better. I had to collect the "good guys" and the "bad guys" - my fragile young form didn't know how to pronounce the word "evil."

Flash forward a few years. I am the proud owner of a AD&D 2nd edition Player's Handbook, complete with picture of guy on horse with sword. Man, what a cool picture. My allowances are handed over to a sweaty man behind the counter of a comic store. The DMG. Monstrous Compendium. Ohhh, how sweet it was.

But then - what's this?

"The Complete Thief's Handbook?" You mean there are MORE BOOKS for this game?

One by one, they make their way into my posession. More and more I spend. The "used" bin at the store sings out to me, with its sweet siren song of "hey! stuff you never bought when it was new, over here! come buy us! buy ussss!"

He complains about two feet of books. Hah. I need two feet of books to properly stat out an orc.

My name is Matt, and I'm a supplementoholic.

I have more books than I'll ever use as well.

Yet I keep buying more... I guess it's nice to know that I'll have almost anything for any situation or scenerio that I want to create... My players will have many options available for their characters, and the NPCs will surely have lots of stuff...

C'mon dark. Here at OSA you can use your real identity, no need for lurking or using a second screen name. So what's your REAL handle? This is the SECOND step to recovery after admitting you have this problem we all share...

I recently traded in some sourcebooks to Noble Knight games.

For more sourcebooks.

I got about 20% of what I paid in trade value.

Help!

Since most of us here at OSA will not and don't want to be cured, perhaps we could arrange a book swap, and at least get some new reading material for the cost of shipping. What ya think?

OSA

I have more books than I will every use, however most of them at 2e, most of the realms, planescape, ds, etc.

Just no BirthRight.

I've long been a sufferer of a form of this. Buying games and supplements from a variety of companies to rape various games and turn the whole thing into some horrendous concoction.

Two foot pile? I'd guess my bookshelves are about 3-4 feet long, and counting the 3e versions of Dragon, I have filled two shelves. Then I have a foot high crate that has the stuff I use regularly.

Of course, I have gotten a fair chunk of my stuff via review and ennies material, but still spend enough each month to make my wife sigh. I try not to buy stuff I know I won't use, but occasionally, I slip and buy one anyways (frex, I really want to get Nyambe.)
