Oversupplementers anonymous

I too own 2 1/2 bookshelves of stuff. The difference for me, I am neither in the business (THG Hal), nor do I ever play! I've played 3E once, and before that it was about 5 years since I had played. I think my wife thinks there is crack or something in these books I keep buying. At least I've realized that I read these like novels, and stopped buying most fiction. Of course, my work just gave me 15% off coupon for Borders that expires in a week. Must resist urge....

1) I do play and since I work in the industry that is how I justify "my habit".
2) 15% off at Borders!!!!!!!!!! *drool*:D

Ok, have to leave work early to see if my LGS got Slaine in yet, cause I won't play it but most own it

Feels the urge.....

Getting weak....

Rolls d20 fails save....gotta go!!!!!

I guess I need some serious help. I have every 1E and 2E supplement and module, every Dragon Magazine, every Dungeon Magazine, and about half the the published 3E books. With all the D20 companies these days I am going to have to expand to a third room (after the divorse).

My name is Dark and Im an oversupplementer.

Hi, Dark...

After reading some of these posts, I see that I'm not as bad off as I thought. Twleve foot shelves? That's an Epic-Level collection! Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go purchase more supplements... [drool drool] :D

My city of greyhawk is developing a 'china-town' (Living Greyhawk and Oriential adventures).
My evil Clerics of Nerull are attempting to free a Cthulu-esque outsider of godlike powers with the help of Alienists (Manual of the planes, tome and blood, defenders of the faith, deities and demigods)

My abuses extend beyond the above, but I will not expose you to my litany of shame...

Um, actually those changes sound pretty cool to me:)

Can anyone give me a deal on bookshelves ?

<gulp> ehm ... well, ... ehm 6 piles of 3 foot each, ehm, ...

<sigh> it goes like this:

I don't travel, my hollidays are spent in places like the Forgotten realms or the warhammer empire (all the real life money saved on that goes into... books)

I collect (during 3E countdown and a short period after release, one of the recurring topics was comparing 3E with previous versions of the game, and whole bunches of people were talking expertly because they ha every release since 1E or everything for AD&D..., since I only started in the hobby a couple of years ago I decided I at least had to have (as much as possible) everything of 3E)

I want to be prepared. Whenever I get an inspiration or my players deviate from my carefully planned plot-line I want to be able to dig through my piles and come up with heaps of stuff concerning that new twist.

I want to be prepared(2). I collect many game systems. 3E is my main interest but I go with most D20 releases (Starwars, Spycraft Sovereign Stone D20, Everquest, ...) and then some... (Warhammer, Pendragon, L5R, Deadlands, Alternity, ...)
I collect some stuff because its fun (hackmaster) or related to subjects I like (LOTR, WoT, ...)

I just like books. Some of the books I got will never see actual play, but I stil like them because they are just drop dead gorgious (art wise offcourse) or cover interesting subjects (Nobilis, Undiscovered, ...)

I like mementos. Whenever I play a published senario in one of the 3 groups I play in, I like to get the book to be able to compare, remenisce or just plain be able to go through the story with the group I DM for. (and to set the record straight: even though I get a book when we're still playing the scenario, I NEVER peek ahead. Peeking ahead would just break the game for me. I know from expierience. My Ars Magica DM had a test lined up for our group. To clense a dingeon we had to go through a bunch of tests and I ended up going through a trapped halway (he called it a test of wits). He just forgot that he himself (while playing in a FR scenario in our local gameshop) had gone through that selfsame trapped hallway and the shopkeeper had told everybody how he got fried... So knowing the solution, ... I stormed through the hallway and told the DM sorry, but I know this trap... instead of playing for 20 minutes trying to break the trap, we skipped ahead after about 10 seconds... DID...NOT...LIKE...)

Anyways... do I qualify for free dispensation of rulebooks? Or modules? ... How about a campaign setting....

I tend to do that, too. If it's WotC, I buy it. If it's AEG's Rokugan, I buy it. If it's Malhavoc, I buy it. If it's by Gygax, I buy it. If has good reviews, I buy it. If it look cool, vaguely useful, and I have a bit money left in my wallet, I buy it. In addition, Nightfall recently inducted me to the world of Scarred Lands, and now I must buy those, too.

Hmm... My pile is only 30 inches tall. Must get more.
