Oversupplementers anonymous

My name is Damon and I'm a collectoholic

Collectoholism is a dangerous and misunderstood disease, which I have suffered for many years. I have thousands of miniature figures languishing unpainted in drawers -- some of them are still in their original blister packs, 10 years after I bought them.

I have thousands of INWO cards and never get to play the game. This experience made me swear off ever buying cards for any CCG ever again, just before the Cthulhu-based Mythos games came out. I'm a big fan of Cthulhu stuff, but I just couldn't let myself go down that CCG road again.

But we're mainly interested in RPG supplements for this thread, so let's talk shelf space and numbers of purchases. I have about 5 feet of shelf space for d20 stuff, about 15 feet worth of shelf space to hold my earlier D&D stuff (not counting the miniature figures or my complete run of Dragon magazine), and something like 26 feet of shelf space packed with other RPGs ranging from Aberrant to World Action & Adventure.

My gaming purchases so far this year are:

Here's the question though: do you write off d20 book expendiatures as "business expenses"? :)

Yes I do.....I have to, as well as my internet connection and my office, mmmmm wonder if I could claim my meteorite die I got

Would you really want to explain that one in an audit? :)

LMAO--research, yea.....I am looking into the effects of how the game is played with certain types of dice. We are coming out with a game that will be based on weight density of the die.
*IRS agent falls asleep*
*Hal sneaks out with glee*
*Hal gets arrested for tax fraud*

Ok, will pass on the meteorite die.

I probably own more than one hundred GURPS books, and more than twice that number of other RPG supplements (with AD&D2E, Shadowrun, and Heavy Gear taking up the bulk of those).

And I don't regret purchasing any of them. Well, except for RIFTS, maybe... ;)

My name is Shadow and I'm an oversupplementer.

Even though I'm a poor college student, I spent what little cash that I have available on RPG supplements. I've brought gaming supplements that I knew I would never use, just to read the cool ideas in them.

Having sold 1/2 of one collection of Roleplaying stuff I think I have my purchasing habit under control. I find a morgage and bills to pay helps a lot.

The flood of D20 products has actually helped as I realise I can't own them all and still have a roof over my head.

Still I can own all the D20 2000 AD stuff I think.

All the books I own I use for ideas more than actually using them. Sometimes I might use a PrC or somesuch but not often.

Aaron.

I don't weep about it- I use a lot of it, and that which I don't use.. I will use eventually. I have worked hard for my money and like spending it on good products.
