Dungeon 157 - Depths of Avarice

I've DL'd and looked it over. For the most part, it looks like a pretty good adventure. Good NPC character development, usable and interesting adventure hooks, creative and non-linear encounters and encounter areas - overall pretty good.

Just one critique (although it's the same one as always)

WHERE ARE THE FULL SIZE MAPS!

I don't know about the rest of you on here, but for me:
- I'm not switching to 4E, but, a good adventure is a good adventure, no matter what the system, and I can use it regardless of the system
- Since I'm not switching to 4E, I will have absolutely no use for the Character Creator and the Compendium.
- Personal taste, I don't use dungeon creation software so I have no need for the Dungeon Creator.
- Personal taste, I don't like playing RPG's online or on a virtual tabletop (and definately not interested in the extra nickels and dimes it will take for extra figures and tiles) so I have no need for the Virtual Tabletop.

Therefore, the only main reasons I would want a DDI subscription is for Dungeon and Dragon magazines (and any other campaign supplements and articles).

So, WoTC, if you refuse to break out of this print paradigm, and start including full size maps (keyed and unkeyed) and artwork with every single adventure, before the free preview runs out, I WILL NOT PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION FOR THESE PRODUCTS. Anyone else that feels this way, please leave your comments and critiques for WoTC and make them listen.

Other than the above, it's a pretty good adventure.;)

Its an interesting adventure and I like the concluding mine cart chase. The disease/curse is one nasty piece of work (and man, do I love 4e's treatment of diseases).

This.

But apart from this editing issue, the adventure looks pretty promising. A bit high-level to run it right now, when when our group gets there, I'll appreciate it, I think! :)

Cheers, LT.

I think a few more low level adventures(and maybe some without Goblins and Kobolds ?) might be nice.

On the other hand, I am supplied with enough adventuring material already for my own campaign I've got H1 to H3, and so far I can't see me not running through the entire series of adventures with my players.

Right on, brutha!

And in addition to that, they should be gilded in gold. And all the treasure listed in the module should be couried to my door step and be 100% REAL and life-sized! Including all the gold coins and gems and magic items.

And I shouldn't be charged more than $1 per issue!

GET IT RIGHT WOTC!

I'll third the call for FULL SIZED MAPS. It's not a print issue guys. You can use a smidgeon more bandwidth. Paizo's showing you for chumps - they managed to do this for the past several years.

GET IT RIGHT.

Why, they're right in the adventure! Just select the map, copy it, paste it in MS Paint, and it will become full-size.

Not really. even copypasta'd & enlarged, those in module maps are on the small resolution size. Not to mention once you start enlarging them, it becomes painfully evident how lopsided some of the squares are. That's a modest issue for those who want to directly print the maps or use a digital projector for one of those 'ultimate game table' set ups.

Still, thanks for clipping those maps out of the PDF. Some folks will find them useful.
