[sblock=tactics]Wow, is there a Hall of Records award for largest map?

While spreading out so we can't get caught in blasts is a good idea, we shouldn't spread out too much, as otherwise it will be difficult for us to support one another.[/sblock]

Haruka carefully picks her way through the swamp in a mostly futile attempt to avoid too much mud. She then peers out into the shadows cast by her startlingly bright sunrod.

[sblock=Actions]Double move to M32, gaining concealment from Shadow Walk. Or rather, anyone attacking me needs to avert their eyes from the blinding sunrod. Also, a minor for a perception check. 15 including the bonus for timely posting. For future reference, should we add the +1 before or after we roll?[/sblock]

[sblock=map and future reference]yeah, it's a big map... nice one too, right? (I didn't make it of course). Last encounter's one was very large, too, but it didn't see much use :heh:

For future reference: well, it's simple, check the time of my post, and if you're posting within 24h, add your +1. If you don't, I won't check.[/sblock]

Lorik has sheathed his sword, but keeps his shield readied. In his free hand he holds the hand crossbow he took from one of the gnomes.

"I'm sick of these fey", he groans. "From now on, no more hostages."

[sblock=OOC]Lorik takes (took?) enough drakes to make a good stew to feed 5 people. That shouldn't be too many, right? Anyway, he also loaded his crossbow before combat. The plan is, if I see any enemies, shoot one as a standard, drop the crossbow as a free, draw longsword as a minor, move toward a second enemy, then burn the action point to attack, thus marking two enemies on (hopefully) opposite sides of the battle. [/sblock][sblock=Actions]I'll double move to M34. Athletics check to hop over the water=19.[/sblock]

Derien eyes the water dubiously. Leaping and bounding were never really my specialty... But he goes for it, calling on Nerati to save him from watery embarassment.[sblock=Actions]Move to U38, Athletics 16 to cross the water. That's with Divine Favor.[/sblock]

As light moves with Haruka, you spot three snipers that were probably observing you from the darkness; two are elf archers, the third is an Eladrin, armed with a bow and sporting a mantle decorated with a starry sky motive.
They seem surprised by the sudden illumination, and cannot take you by surprise despite having certainly spotted our source of illumination from afar.
The party scatters and Heinrich seeks cover behind a large tree.
But it doesn't take long for the feys to take action. The eladrin swiftly releases two arcane-infused arrows, both of which find their target
: one hits Ikni, the other Haruka; they're scorched by arcane fire upon being pierced. Then he retreats in the darkness again, crossing the bridge.
Similarly, each of the two elf archers picks his target. One snipes Lorik, despite his line of sight being partially covered by Haruka, then retreats behind a tree, hidden from you. The other targets the sorceress, and wounds her badly enough, too. Then, running on the trunk floating on the water, he gets back in the cover of darkness.

[sblock=Derien]hears the whispers of the feys communicating with short phrases; however, he's pretty sure he heard more than just three voices...[/sblock]

Initiative and status, round 1:
-Ikni HP:21/31 S:5/11, AP:1
-Haruka HP:12/30 S:7/10 AP:1, bloodied
-Lorik HP:14/29 S:4/11 AP:2
-Derien HP:22/26 S:8/9 AP:2
-Heinrich HP:24/24 S:4/7 AP:2 (Stealth 27)
-Eladrin Archer
-Elf Archer 1
-Elf Archer 2

ooc:the Eladrin archer was in E16;he inflicts 10 points of dmg to Ikni and 4 to Haruka; Elf archer 1 was in M19, he inflicts 13 dmg on Lorik; Elf archer 2 was in T17, he inflicts 14 dmg on Haruka. Damn, what's with these dmg rolls?
Remember: first to post, first to act. Unless you specify otherwise in your post.

[sblock=Um, ow?]I guess this is the karmic backlash from getting through that last battle basically untouched. Well, I still need to move forward if we're going to be able to see anything.

Just to confirm something, the paved area is just a raised platform, right? We can see whatever's on top of it?[/sblock]

Haruka gasps in pain and staggers as the arrows tear into her. With a snarl on her face, she kneels down and places her hand on the ground. Vegetation visibly withers and dies at her touch, but her wounds seem to close somewhat. Strengthened, she presses forward, shadows wrapping around her as she moves.

[sblock=Actions]Standard: Second Wind, gaining 7 hp and +2 to all my defenses until the end of my next turn.
Move: Move to M26, using diagonals to avoid difficult terrain, and gaining concealment from Shadow Walk. Effectively, I'm at +4 to all defenses, which I'm going to start showing in my stat block.
Minor: Curse the nearest enemy I can see, if I can, in fact, see any of them.[/sblock]

ooc:yes, it's a low platform. Like, less than 5ft high. Also, map update. Please note that Haruka can only curse the elf, since she doesn't have line of sight to the eladrin. He's on the map becase Ikni and Lorik do.

Wincing as the arrow hits him, Lorik moves slowly advances forward, maintaining his defensive position.
