Ring of the Fey Lord (DM:Atanatotatos, Judge:Lord Sessadore)Up:Lorik, etc.

AS ikni's attacks go wide, the Eladrin takes a step back, and nocks two more arrow in his bow. He takes a step back and shoots, one arrow hits Ikni's flank, while the other misses Lorik by a wide margin.
The archer approaces the party and aims an arrow at Derien, and gets him right in the middle of his back, dealing a fatal wound. The elf falls unconscios to the ground.
You can see the elf armed with blades walk around the big tree and approach you...

ooc: I'm delaying until after taran goes, because my turn's going to change a little if he rolls a 20 on his death save.

Haruka yelps as Derien goes down, but her attention is quickly diverted to the blade-wielding elf. As she extends her hand towards the newcomer, she mutters something under her breath:

"My lord, I do not presume to know your will. I do not know why you had your vassals recruit me, or why you spared me and not them. However, if you have more planned for me than dying in this wretched swamp, I would appreciate any assistance you might choose to lend."

Glowing motes of light dart out from Haruka's fingertips to circle around the elf. As they do so, the points extend into needles, and suddenly they break from their orbit to drive themselves into the elf's body. While the lights dissapate, something of the needles remains, waiting to tear further at his flesh should he move any closer.

Haruka closes her eyes, bows her head, and whispers, "Thank you."

Then her eyes snap open and she rushes over to tend to Derien.

[sblock=Actions]Standard: Dire Radiance the scout, gaining benefit from Prime Shot. Hits Fort 19 for 11 radiant damage (timely posting), and 5 more untyped damage if he moves closer to me on his turn. Ha! That's fantastic. That might kill him. Oh thank you, shadowy overlord.
Move: Move to N19, gain concealment.
Minor: ...oh hell, seriously? Administering a healing potion to an unconscious character is a standard action? Argh! Sorry taran. I'll patch you up next turn. So nothing for my minor, I guess. When was the last time I let a minor action go unused?[/sblock]

Ikni stumbles after the eladrin, but the slippery footing betrays her again, as she puts six inches of steel through the mossy ground, only vaguely near the eladrin's feet.

ooc: move to F10. Booming blade: natural 1. OMG

There is a sudden crunching noise followed by a ragged grunting from off to the south as something lumbers through the bush. With a loud CHUNK a nearby tree splinters asunder, and a hulking figure drags itself through the ruins.

It is only slightly taller than a man, but its bulk makes it seem much larger. It is covered with - or made of - greenish black wood. It has a face, sunk deep into the knotted wood where a human's head would be. The eyes are wild with madness.

In its right - arm? - in its right limb it drags a long pole on which is mounted a massive crescent-shaped axe head. Its left limb is withered and useless; in fact, its entire left side is rent with sickly, purplish-black wounds. Protruding from the largest wound, where a human's heart would be, is a black iron bar studded with glowing runes that cast an eerie purple light over the creature.

It stops on the edge of the woods and swings its head from side to side. Its gaze locks on the elf, and it roars: "GRAAAAH!" It charges forward, stumps pounding on the ground, and brings its massive axe up one-handed to slice down at the elf.

The elf ducks out of the way and the axe crashes to the earth. The creature stares uncomprehendingly at it, and whispers. "F...fey... B...BETRAY!" It hefts its axe ready for another strike.

Place Ironheart on the map at V13.
Move action: move to T17
Standard action: charge to R19 and attack Elf Archer 2: natural 1. I'm sorry. You're all doomed. Even the cavalry is useless!
Free action: mark archer 2 with Nature's Wrath.

[sblock=ooc]surprise! I recruited a player! After all we had lost two, joe proposed an interesting tie-in for his character. Sorry that I didn't ask you guys, I opted for the surprise effect. I hope you don't mind. I suspect that you'll appreciate the extra... bulk, here. Well, that is, if Joe doesn't roll like you have! :uhoh:[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Ha!

I think Ironheart and Haruka would work well together, by the way. Ironheart, a treant who's been quasi-corrupted by a fire wielding warlock, and Haruka, a fire wielding warlock who spends healing surges by draining the life out of nearby vegetation. Yup, no potential for conflict there.

Awesome, absolutely fantastic. I'm giggling just thinking about it.

Very glad to have you aboard. And I'm not just saying that because you're at full hp, haven't spent your daily, still have an action point, still have your second wind, and are trained in Heal. Although those all certainly help.[/sblock]
