[4e] The Wolfcrown, Chapter 1

Doren HP: 2/36 Defenses: AC: 18 / Fort: 15 / Refl: 14 / Will: 18

[sblock=OOC to All but mostly DF]I hate to make you edit that post up there but I am going to spend my action point to take the place of the queen and take the damage she was supposed to in the surprise attack and the acid and blind conditions as well. Hopefully my defenses might be enough not to be effected by them as she was but not sure if you're going to re-roll or just say whatever happened to her happened to me instead.[/sblock]

"M'lady! Get down!" Doren yelped as he wrapped his large male form around the queen just before the javelin came hurtling out of the forest and strait into the back of his shoulder. Armor and flesh parted ways respectively as Doren reached back to yank the metal head from his now wounded shoulder with a hard wince and a grunt.

Regaining his composure Dorean is quickly blasted with the plant creatures nasty acid bath and could not get his eyes closed fast enough to protect them. His hands went to his eyes as he yelled to his companions. "I'm hit!... We must NOT fail my friends, I doubt not your ability to end this quickly! Doren barked as he tried to clear his eyes to give himself one good attack before the acid deeply set into his eyes!

EDIT: As the poison and the sting of the acid complied with the javelin shot to the shoulder Doren quickly staggers and turns his head to the queen in his near death stupor... "Run.... M'Lady" he stutters softly feeling his grip on consciousness slipping from him.

Squeal, Warforged barbarian

As the acid bites into squeal and starts blinding the warforged, it lets out a sharp scream of defiance.

[SBlock=ooc]
Shrug it Off, Immediate reaction 15, shift to F7
[/sblock]

With its rage pushing the warforged past the inconvenience of the acid, Squeal charges towards the opponents, longsword and trident carving viscous arcs through the air.

Move to K7,
Standard Whirling Step Vs Plant Creature 2 18 Vs Ac, 14 Damage.
If it hits, shift to M7 and do 7 Damage to the Assassin.

Staggered by the sudden barrage, Doren's attack misses its mark by a longshot.

Racing across the grove, Squeal's blades barely miss the sinister plant creature.

[sblock=Enemy Update]The Plant Creatures have AC greater than 18.[/sblock]

With Doren and Squeal hurt Torath knows he must defend the queen and his friends. "Adele's blessing upon me," he prays as he walks out in front of the others, putting himself between the plant creature and them. "And the wrath of The Four upon thee." he says holding forth his enchanted holy symbol to release the light from within to dazzle and smite his enemies.

Thorn darts forward, on Squeals heels...following in his shadow. She stops facing the enemy assassin and brandishes her short sword menacingly.

"You sure you want to do this?" she warns.

All around the changeling, shadows burble and peel off the ground to feint and lunge at him from his flanks and behind; a terrifying, distracting display of supernatural power!

(Move to J8 and use Nightmare Shades on the assassin. 16 to hit vs Will, for 23 damage, and invoke a shroud on him. If the attack hits, he grants combat advantage to me for 1 turn, and I gain a +3 damage bonus against him for 1 turn.)

Roll Lookup

Torath's holy blast scorches the swampy ground in front of the plant creature, but doesn't quite harm it. However, he succeeds in blocking line of sight to the queen and his wounded comrade.

Thorn's attack barely misses, falling short by less than an inch. The assassin looks at Thorn, recognizing her instantly as another changeling, and thus as a worthy foe.

The acid that has been eating through Doren's armor wears him down. Suddenly, he falls unconscious.

[sblock=Doren]Because ongoing damage occurs at the beginning of your turn, you won't have a chance to act this round. Instead, Doren needs to make a death saving throw.[/sblock]

The assassin, seeing Doren fall unconscious, maneuvers around the tree and launches another spear at the Queen. This one hits its mark, puncturing her royal vestments. Springseer grits her teeth and pulls the spear from her shoulder.

"Coward!"

Meanwhile, one of the plant creatures attempts to take advantage of Squeal's reckless charge, but its swipe misses.

The other creature, seeing Torath preparing another strike, rushes him and swings at him. It manages to hit him, although Torath easily shrugs its off.

[sblock=Torath]Torath takes 8 damage.[/sblock]

[sblock=Round 2 Actions]Assassin moves to J12.
Assassin makes RBA against Springseer, hits.
Plant Creature 1 moves to G5.
Plant Creature 1 makes MBA against Torath, hits for 8 damage.

"Queen...n....no..." Doren stutters softly as he feels his knees buckle on him and before hitting the ground face first to start his fight with death he utters to the queen once more softly... "A.... Avenge me queen."

Squeal, Warforged barbarian

Squeal renews its attack on the plant creature, trying to push it back. The warforged calls out to Thorn "Watch the assassin, this one will stop the plant", calling out to its ally seems to momentarily distract the warfored and its foe easily dodges a clumsy swipe.

[sblock=ooc]
Pressing Strike vs 2 11vs AC :blush:
Move - shift to K6
[/sblock]

Baern quickly bandages Doren's wound, tethering the cleric's soul back to his body. Doren regains consciousness!

[sblock=ooc]Doren spends his second wind.

Also, Phaezen, when you post during combat, could you please list Squeal's HP and defenses? That would help me a lot.[/sblock]
