So the Paladin spell Find Steed appeals to one of my players a lot, so I am looking for ways in the rules for a non-paladin to be able to get one (DM says so is of course always available, but I'm looking at the rules we have so far). Here's what I see:
1. 10th level Bard with magical secrets can learn the spell to give herself a pony.
2. a wizard's wish spell can duplicate the effect of the spell, but technically only for herself (though it would take an awfully mean dm not to allow the spell to transfer to another character).
3. once we have scroll-writing rules, a paladin can make a scroll and it could be cast with a chance of failure by a non-paladin (following the rules in the 5b DM pdf). A 13th level rogue thief would also be able to cast it without chance of failure.
Aside: will all casters be able to write scrolls? Will Scribe Scroll be a new feat in the DMG?
4. if it were a ritual, then there would be other ways for Find Steed to be cast by warlocks and ritual-get takers. But it's not.
Aside 2: this seems to me to be a missed opportunity for the specialist wizards: that if they find a spell on another list, they can transfer it to their spell book and cast it as a ritual if it is from their specialty school. This seems to me more useful than the reduced writing time they get at level 2. But that's perhaps able to be broken in ways I've not imagined.
In any case -- here is my question: what other ways are there for a player to get access to a spell (such as Find Steed) that's only on another class's spell list when it's not a ritual?
