D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Much as Carad dreaded close combat, he knew that speed was critical at this time. He dashed forward, pushing his body through the fey and back to stretch thin the distance intervening, weaving past Morgan, Hunter and the cultist (to square N8). Dropping his bow and pulling out his rapier, he stabbed the kobold in front of him.

OOC: Move 30ft + Cunning Action - Dash 30ft. Should be enough to reach in one round since Hunter could reach? I counted 11 squares to get there.

Can I assume that Jeni had passed him the 10 goodberries and he eaten them before combat started, as discussed in the OOC thread?
PSA: Carad, as a rogue, get sneak attack on a target if there is an ally within 5ft of that target. Just saying... :)

Seing that hiding was now pointless, Jeni went over the wall and fired another shot, with increased difficulty since it was through the smoke.

OOC: Move to VW12 (I assumed the wall was difficult terrain so double movement cost).

Venn stands proudly, clearly appeased with his quick action and defiant blow to enemy moral. Again without hesitating he raises his arm and fires a bolt of energy that zips past his companions towards the enemy, his eyes glow a menacing blue in the haze.

OOC: I may be out of pocket for the rest of the night, so I am going to post rolls and actions for Morgan now, although the cultist may do something. I'll post general tactics and the DM can modify my actions if they're overcome by events.


Morgan charged in, the Black Tide warcry fell from her lips as she remembered the need to not draw attention to their attack. She moved towards their opponents and attacked, please to see so many enemies falling to their shock attack.

OOC: Move: P8 if available
Action: Attack - [roll0], [roll1] (if Disadvantage applies), Damage: [roll2] (Flail) or [roll3] (Javelin)
Item Interaction: Draw Flail or Javelin depending on her target.

Notes: Her main goal is to move to melee range, but she will draw and throw a javelin instead if the cultist attempts to flee or if her movement doesn't get her in range to attack with her flail.

Carad rushes forward to engage the foes in close combat, but his blade is deflected by the cultist at the last second.
Jeni arcs an arrow over the melee and critically wounds one of the kobolds (N6) who lets out a low keening noise.
Venn's blast wings through the air and picks off another kobold (N7) leaving a smoldering corpse.
Hunter crushes his foe (P7) with a contemptuous swing and steps forward to threaten the last uninjured kobold.
The cultist steps in swings his blade back at Carad, hitting the elf for [roll0] damage.
Morgan steps in and crushes her flail deep into the cultist, but he stays on his feet.
The kobolds move up and attempt to hold their own, one stabbing ineffectually at Hunter, the other manages to slide inbetween the seams of Morgan's armor cutting her for 1d4+1 = 3 damage. They begin yipping sharply, a sound which carries loudly to ears hoping for silence.
The loud hollow boom echoes again from the north.

OOC: Quick and dirty map of the melee.
Carad is hit and yes, ate the berries earlier.

OOC: Actually, Carad attacked the kobold, but I think he missed anyway. Besides, Venn has obliterated him. :)


Gritting his teeth to focus past the pain, Carad stabbed again at the cultist. He then bent to pick up his bow before retreating along the temple's southern wall, peeking out along the western edge to see if the kobolds' yipping had attracted unwanted attention. At the same time, he sent to Scree, asking, "Any developments? Did they hear us?"

Object interaction: Pick up bow. (Realised Carad was dumb. He didn't need to drop the bow to draw his rapier. Forgot he had two hands. ;) )

If the cultist is still alive, Carad would use Cunning Action to Disengage to avoid AoO. If his stab killed the cultist, Carad would instead use Cunning Action to attempt to Hide from the 2 kobolds by pressing flat against the southern wall, and hoping the smoke will mask his presence.

Carad stabs once more in the general direction of the cultist who is too intent on Morgan to notice, then the elf slips away through the mist and slides back over the wall.

Venn leaps over the wall and moves up slowly beside Jeni, his hand trailing blue mist. As he stands firm he once more glares into the shrouded fog and releases a beam of energy intent on ripping their enemies apart.

To the heavens, regardless of his attack hitting or not, Venn lets out a strange mottled prayer of some ancient language. To anyone close enough to hear, they would probably shiver at the sounds. Sounds no mortal can make.

OOC: In case it isn't clear. Venn doesn't usually chose target unless his targets make themselves distinctive.
