D&D 5E Nora RWBY based Character

Hi all, I prolly will not be able to play this character anytime soon, but I have been trying to decide which class would be the funnest for this character. Some reflavoring would be needed for some of the options. And in many ways it comes down to who makes the best 2 handed hammer master. I would be ignoring the grenade launcher part of the weapon and the rocket part of the hammer as well, as this would not translate well into medieval fantasy. My current thoughts are Paladin, Fighter and Barbarian (reflavoring needed for both Barbarian and Paladin).

The Fighter is simply the best damage dealer of the bunch. But Paladins get smite for better burst damage, and a reflavored Barbarian could be really nice with rages and such. Let me know what you all think?

I'd go fighter because Action Surge is much more flexbile than smites and rage. Good for a damage boost, but also good if you need to charge into melee (not an uncommon situation if you want to use that hammer a lot), good if you want to dodge or need a mobility boost with Disengage.

You could even go eldritch knight and get the evocation spells that might model rockets and grenades (which Action Surge lets you combine with each other, or with a full round of attacks).

Considering she was modelled after Thor, part of me wants to use Mountain Dwarf Stats for her, and just go crazy Str and Con. But the power gamer in me, will prolly go Variant Human, but maybe that part of the discussion is best for Character OP. But leaning toward Barb, cus of the Unarmored Defense thing, even though its also more of a playing the personality of the character, and you can do that with or without armor, as long as the heart above the cleavage is there. ;) and pink giggles.

Unless you reflavour Barbarian rage as a "happy rage", I don't see Barbarian being appropriate for Nora. She's almost always happy -- there's no hint of rage that I've seen in her character (my youngest son is a RWBY fan). EK is certainly appropriate, as would the smites from Paladin. I'd personally think Fighter (BM or EK) as the best option.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the armor aspect. Pretty much ANY anime protagonist would need some sort of "no armor" mod to model aesthetically. If she's not meant to be especially stealthy, you don't mechanically lose anything by going with heavy armor. If your DM is willing, you could even describe it as avoiding attacks rather than things hitting armor, it won't change the mechanics of the thing.

Good point, and leaning toward fighter
