D&D 5E Storm King's Thunder

OOC: The party also found the two goblin loot sacks in the church. I'm not sure if anyone kept the contents. One sack contains three blocks of incense, a silver holy symbol shaped like a unicorn's head, and some stolen (and worthless) personal effects. The other sack holds three empty vials used to contain holy water and an unlocked wooden "poor box" containing 37 cp and 15 sp.

Fistan: You are able to determine that the magic on the door is decorative and not associated with any type of arcane trap. The unfamiliar writing takes on the appearance of lava and the creator was most likely going for a demonic 'keep out' sign.

Tranio: Spuds rides his cart into the village for a hot meal and sleep.

Entire Party:
You are all able to get some shut eye at the inn. Eldrath does not appear very rested the following morning. He announces that he will not be joining the search party. It was a vision of doom that originally brought him to Nightstone and last night he received another troubling one. He does not go into great detail, but says there was a totem pole representing different types of giants. Massive armies of humans were waging war against this structure, but in the end a shot of energy from the heavens destroyed it first. He thanks you for your help and leaves to study the prophecy.

More intrigued and a little amused by the flashy decoration, Fistan enters the cottage to investigate.

Fistan Search of the house: 1D20+3 = [14]+3 = 17

After a night's rest, he readies to go in search of the villagers. "We'd best be going soon, if the villagers are in trouble we can't lose any more time."

OOC: [MENTION=6853819]TallIan[/MENTION] -- remember in the future that since Tranio was with you, you could call on him either to help (i.e. Help -- give advantage), and for a Guidance (+1d4). Your local death cleric wants to help!

Fistan & Tranio: The front door is unlocked and no harm comes from opening it. You are surprised to find the cottage untouched. Perhaps the runes on the door scared off the goblins? You quickly notice an unlocked chest that contains several items. The most striking is a golden pendant of a devil's head. There is also a healer's kit and a potion of healing.

Entire Party: As the sun rises, Spuds' wagon follows the villagers tracks through the forest. Golden light silhouettes each tree and the ride would be peaceful if not for the task at hand. You travel for about an hour until the wagon comes to an unexpected halt. "Look ahead," the driver says with a timid point. "Bodies in the road."

Three bloodied male corpses lay face down in the mud.

"Eyes out," says Tranio to the assembled party, saying a quick prayer for guidance.

OOC: Perception: [roll0]. If guidance is applicable, add [rol]1d4[/roll].
If (If others looking counts as "Help" then better of that and [roll1].)

Fistan looks at the strange devil's head, showing it to Tranio, before pocketing it. "These might be more use to you." he says offering the healers kit and healing potion to the priest.

OOC: I'm happy for those items to go into the group inventory, but Fistan will take a closer look at the devil's head at the next rest seeing that he does not have identify or detect magic.

As they bumped along on Spuds' wagon again Fistan tried his best to enjoy the morning, until Spuds pointed out the bodies. "Well that doesn't bode well whoever they are." he says, scanning the area.

FitzTheRuke

Legend
A half-elf steps out from behind some trees further up the road. "Greetings, travellers! I apologise for my sudden appearance, but upon hearing your wagon coming up the road, I thought it best to observe you before making an appearance, what with the various dangers hereabouts. For example, what may have befallen these three unfortunates. By your bearing, I can tell that you had nothing to do with it, and I assure you that I only just came upon them, myself, not minutes before."

Then, realising that he had not yet introduced himself, he adds, "I am Aremus Kalouhn, of Goldenfields."

Insight [roll0].

A halfelf, but no kinsman, thinks Tranio as he eases himself off of the potato cart. His shield is still in the cart; Tranio wasn't expecting combat, and this individual is no deceiver (or so Tranio assumes).

"And peace be upon you," says Tranio as he moves towards the bodies. "You are travelling in dangerous lands, if three should fall in this way. Come, help me with the bodies."

Tranio moves towards the (supposed) corpses.
