It's the internet, so no nuance is allowed, as per standard internet rules. Drizzt Do'Urden is either the best thing ever or the worst thing ever; there are no other options. There is no in-between. So, do you love him or hate him?

I voted love, but only if because he has his fans and draws more people to playing D&D. Personally, I'm ambivalent. I find him to be rather trite these days, but I don't play in a Forgotten Realms campaign and don't have traditional drow in my own setting (they smack of a weird kind of dominatrix fetish and why must everything that is evil be black kind of thing that I don't prefer).

He's basically D&D's version of a Boy Band:

Manufactured, over-hyped and marketed for good 'ole hard cash.

Granted, he's dreamy.

Don’t care for the Icewind Dale series. However, Exile, Sojourn, and Homeland are the books that got me into D&D. Menzoberranzan will always be my favourite city. Go figure.

I hate the effect he had upon the ranger class... but I love that the character has resulted in people wanting to play D&D.

Indifferent toward Drizzt, but voted "Love" given those were the only two options.

It's better to be tolerant of something that isn't directly harmful, than to be intolerant of it. The Internet could use less "hate" in general.

I guess I'm happy that some players have come to (or stayed in) the game because of Drizzt. I don't ragequit the second he shows up in a game/book/comic that I'm reading. I kind of wish he wasn't used so much, because I'd like to see other characters either promoted or created to encourage some variety.
